Biography

“Xylie is a band I met and recorded at the Barter Faire. This duo consists of Xylie on acoustic guitar and vocals and Dustin on electronic drums brings a wide range of flavors together to create music that is, at times, soulful, funky, and witty, and in other moments, urgent, quirky and frenetic. Xylie's intensely personal, biting lyrics cut to the chase as she rhythmically strums out the accompaniment to her rich, mezzo soprano voice. Dustin's battery provides the glue that holds these eclectic stylings together to deliver a clear message. With a sound that goes beyond the predictability of the White Stripes or The Black Keys, this colorful duo handles all of their own management and marketing in a way that exemplifies the Indie musician's model. Expect greatness from this driven and passionate band.”

Biography:
Xylie Desiree Eshleman (born September 4 1974), profesionally known as Xylie, is an American singer, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, poet and songwriter from Los Angeles, California. Xylie has a mezzo soprano vocal range. Her main genre is alternative folk rock, however she incorporates many elements of blues, jazz, alternative-country, pop, reggae, indie, electronic and jam band.

In 1994 the Grateful Dead documentary Tie Dyed was aired nationally in movie theatres and Xylie had a notable speaking part.

Xylie began glassblowing in 1995.

Xylie returned to Los Angeles in late 1995 and formed her 1st band Chakra. Notable appearances include Performing live on Poor Mans Anti Radio Show and opening for Third World.

Chakra disbanded in 1999 and Xylie took in her twin brother and sister for almost 3 years.

In 2001 Xylie went on tour with Eek-A-Mouse as a babysitter.

In 2005 Xylie wrote the music, recorded and produced Thoughts From Within, a poem by Woody Harrelson. She plays every instrument on the recording.

In 2006 November, Xylie met Dustin Bryce, her drummer and they recorded the drums to her song I Keep Thinking About You within 3 days of meeting. They spent the next 2 years recording and writing material.

In 2008 Xylie and Dustin got a tourbus and converted it to an RV and begin planning an album release and tour.

In 2009 Xylie and Dustins tourbus was stolen in Humboldt Ca, and driven off a cliff into the Mattole river. All their musical instruments and the entire recording studio was stolen.

In 2010 Xylie and Dustin got new instruments, and began performing live as often as possible, performing live on the radio, Oregon State Fair, The Hope Mountain Barter Faire and all over the west coast.

In 2011 Xylie and Dustin continued performing and started their own record label, Ecospun Records. Ecospun Records released two limited edition albums, Eclectic Frenetic and Acoustic Angst, which consisted of old and new Xylie tracks in many genres. Their 1st video for Ego was filmed in April 2011 in Los Angeles.

Xylie and Dustin spent 2012 in Costa Rica writing new material.

In 2013 Xylie and Dustin remastered their folk rock songs and put them all onto one cohesive album called LOTUS, officially announced on April 20, with a release date of TBA. The limited edition albums were removed from retailers. This was done in order to promote the best songs that were never properly promoted as well as to unify her sound into alternative folk rock as opposed to eclectic dance, hard rock, pop, alternative.

The meaning of LOTUS to Xylie is involved, on one hand it signifies the subconscious coming to light, to understanding and losing the ego. The murky water is the false self, the dark confusion we all must lose in order to meet our true self and potential. On another level it signifies the songs that never saw the light, working to reach the surface to see the light of day and realize their full potential.

Lyrics

Acid Rain

Written By: Xylie

It's like a little raindrop and it's falling so hard just to fall on my lap
Shes getting pretty wild, so I don't think I'm gonna call her back

I said, "baby your'e driving me crazy, Don't play me -
I used to love you honey"
It's like a little raindrop falling so hard just to fall on my head
He's getting pretty wild so I don't think I'm gonna take him to bed
tonight
It just doesn't feel right
I said, "baby boy your'e driving me crazy, Don't play me -
I used to love you honey"

your like acid rain
nothing but pain
yeah you know your like acid rain
and you're causing me nothing but pain!

It's like a little raindrop falling so hard just to fall on my toe
your burning my skin so I'm gonna have to let ya know
I'm gonna have to let you go
Oh no!
because you're burning my skin...
yeah, you're burning my skin...

I'm Gone

Written By: Xylie

Don't ya come cryin
after you come lyin

Cause I'll be sayin
bye and I'll be gone

I'll be gone so gone
the only thing left of me
will be this song

Doncha come beggin
after all the pushin and tuggin
it should have been lovin
but now its time for you to slither on

I'm gone I'm gone so gone
the only thing left of me will be this song

See ya in my rearview mirror
your lyin ways
becoming clearer
See it's a blues song, but not the sad kind
It's the strength the blues
may I remind
you get what you choose

So I'm gone I'm gone
The only thing left of me will be THIS SONG!

I Keep Thinking About You

Written By: Xylie

~I Keep Thinking About You~

I keep thinking about you
All of my thoughts all roll roll right back to you,
you,
your so fine
that you blow my mind
like a hybrid strain
to the brain
fuzzy thoughts and happy thinking

super cool
when your around
I'm your fool

and I keep thinking about you,
all of my thoughts all
roll roll right back to you

how did you get so sweet?
like sugar, like sugar

I keep thinking about you,
all of my thoughts all
roll right back to you,
roll right back to you,
right back to you,
roll right back to you,
right back to you

hey hey did I say,

you rock
I roll
right on back to thoughts of you

I keep thinking about you,
and all of my thoughts all
roll, roll right back to you!

Put Down Your Gun

Written By: Xylie

Put down your guns
there ain't a war on earth can be won
everything woven can be undone
if you pull the strings
will tapestry of life
can become a pile of threads, of strife

suffering not a lot it can bring
that misery pain and war
and wondering what it is all for

the son put down your gun
is wallowing in the trenches just ain't fun
and there ain't a war on earth can be won
So son
put down your gun

suffering not a lot it can bring
misery pain and war
wondering what is all for

son put down your gun
there ain't a war on earth that can be won

Ego

Written By: Xylie

you feel
what you think is real
but you don’t even know what you conceal,
could you take the real you out and reveal?

I bet we’d like you if you'd let the real you out,
but you don’t know who you are
because your shadowed in self doubt
all wrapped up like a package
out of a Hollywood shop,
its all for your ego
don’t you know
Stop!

because beauty is earth
we need a rebirth,
its all about connection
but we got this onslaught of egos
and rejection

put down the ego my friend
it’s an illusion it's a mask,
It's a defense, It's a pretense

Put down the ego my friend
who are you really?
Whats your purpose in the end?

Man... MTV
used to be
my salvation
It was the music visual vibration
coming through the screen
and now the message it is so obscure
and its so obscene
I cant believe
just what these views have seen

see violence and stupidity
has become a way
of making money
for MTV
and its such a
joke to me
Its total hypocracy,
I mean.. come on now....

where’s the music?

put down the ego my friend
it’s an illusion its a mask
it's a defense its a pretense
put down the ego my friend
who are you really and whats your purpose in the end?

Sands of Time

Written By: Xylie

The sands of time blow
against the window
- sill - ouette of a mountain losing it shape
man stands still his mouth agape

trapped inside the house he's built
watching the sun caused the old lilies to wilt

I will get by
as the Sands of time slide
through and hourglass down the mountainside
time always slides on by

I spread my arms wide open
as if I'll take to the sky
My mind is like a bird
who's in a cage ready to fly

locked inside his head of mine
know I will be a queen
as I am so inclined

you been by my side for probably too long
So I spread my wings now and yes I carry on

I will get by
as the sands of time slide
when our glass down the mountainside
time always slides on by

a bird let out of its cage
flying high to touch the sun
will child little child life is just begun
you will get by

I will get by
the Sands of Time slide
through an hourglass down the mountainside
Time always slides on by

Rockstar

Written By: Xylie

Running around chasing dreams
this boy is sliding down golden moonbeams
he's got a guitar in his hand
he says he wants to be my man
and then he says catch me if you can

I ain't following you anywhere
I can play my own guitar
I'm not your little groupie here
and you ain't a rock 'n roll star

so don't you don't you fall down
because I can't help you get up I won't be around

little boy little boy what have you learned
you can't go far on the bridges you've burned
your whole life is built on quicksand
and it's only your ego helping you to stand

so dont you don't you fall down
I can help you get up I won't be around

I ain't following you anywhere
I could play my own guitar
not a little groupie here
and you ain't a rock 'n roll star

don't you don't you fall down
I can help you get up I won't be around

Try

Written By: Xylie

Transcending light
creativity it shines bright
understanding is key
and to a child its a necessity
but your mamma yells no child
don't do that
selling drugs on the corner to make your wallet fat
and you thought you'd escape this hell
that you've grown to know so well

and as the times go by
all that you could do is try

the light the spark whoa little one
well your parents stifled your imagination
well they tried to stifle your imagination but child that can't be done

and as the times go by
all that you can do is try
get one foot in the door
you gotta keep, you gotta keep on movin on

cuz it seems everyone
well they all want to
divide and not conquer our fears
and prejudice learned from our parents has lasted for way too many years
my eyes
well you know they, shed a tear

and as the times go by
all that you can do is try
get one foot in the door
you gotta keep, you gotta keep on movin on

cuz all the world is your oyster and you
are the master of your own destiny
don't you know you need to break free
of all these chains of hypocrisy
and ignorance is bliss they say
until it comes to haunt you one day

and as the times go by
all that you could do is try
and all that you can do is try
and all that you can do is try
and all that you can do is try

Bad Advice

Written By: Xylie

Thanks for the bad advice not one thought let alone think twice
you see I'm blown away about how bad you think
after you tried to cheer me up, I'm on the brink
of insanity
because you think you know so much more than me
you must be omnipotent inherently
because this knowledge comes to you so easily,
so rapidly, so amazingly, so you got ESP
with god and you don't even need to read
because you just know, OH

so thanks for the bad advice but im not gonna take it
every cliche that you say is a rule of life well you know I'll break it.
cuz you see that you're too young
and you're too hellbent that you must
take it, and fake it, you'd be so stoked baby if you could break it
cuz you must have it all and even if I fall, you must have it all and even if I fall

Yeah, so thanks for the bad advice about what I should do
but who
gave you the authority to guide me
when you can't even see?

because I think you're immature at best
and I don't wanna put your advice to the test
you're like a bra and you're wrapped around my chest
too tight and I can't breathe and you're not right

thanks for the bad advice not one thought let alone think twice

Can't You See

Written By: Xylie

Every time I try to make it work I just come out feelin like your such a jerk!
Every time I try to make it work I just come out feelin like your such a jerk!

(Chorus)
Can't you see cant you see
It ain't workin, it ain't workin out for me

Every time I try to talk to you, I just don't know what I should do
Every time I try to talk to you, I just don't know if we're through

(Chorus)
Can't you see, can't you see
It ain't workin, it ain't workin out for me

What are we gonna do, I just don't know
all I know is it ain't workin
it just ain't workin out for me
it just ain't workin out baby

(Chorus)
Can't you see, can't you see
It ain't workin, It ain't workin out for me
