Xyzyx

 Los Angeles, California, USA
BandRockComedy

Like a Weezer meets Foo Fighters with the stage presence of Spinal Tap. Face-melting rock at it's finest.

Biography

If you want to see a show, then you simply see Xyzyx. (Pronounced 'ziz-iks')

The unique, Los Angeles-based Positive Power Pop/Rock 5-piece is united by Microphonist David Z (Maryland Heights, MO), Johnny X on Rhythm Guitar and Vocals (La Crosse, WI), Paully X on Lead Guitar and Vocals (La Crosse, WI), Adam Y on Bass (Buffalo Grove, IL), and T-Love Y (Rochester Hills, MI) on Drums.

Formed underground in August 2007, after two separate season contestants of NBC's reality show "Average Joe" (David Z from St. Louis, and Johnny X from Madison, WI) met through chance encounter and found themselves randomly harmonizing in public. They took a live-in-the-moment action to full force, and have been performing live since March 2009.

Rockin' their brash 'Team Xyzyx' uniforms, songs like "Rock This Up", "2012", and "Expendable (We're Not") will be in your face; traditional, fist-pumping rock ballads like "Our Lives" and "For You" will move; and upbeat dance numbers such as "Melissa" and "Kirk Cameron" speak for themselves, with energetic pop-rock-punk expression.

Recently opening for Missing Persons at Key Club and often direct support for Steel Panther at House of Blues Sunset Strip, Xyzyx face-meltings usually occur at The Roxy Theatre, Whisky A Go Go, and The Viper Room.

Xyzyx is a plethora of fun, energy and physical animation, combined with catchy, infectious numbers. A cross between Weezer and the Foo Fighters, the stage presence of Spinal Tap, throw in some 4-part harmonies reminiscent of 70s homage, and you've got Xyzyx.

Expendable (We're Not)

Written By: D. Freeman / D. Daskal / P. Baumgaertner / J. Baumgaertner / E. Lordan

I know what you're thinkin'
It's hard to conceive
This boat's long been sinked yeah
That's what they all believed

Ooh, travel's metaphoric
You couldn't comprehend
And these scars placed before me
Will bring it back again

And I've got just
Two seconds
To cut the final cord

Our mission
It's simple
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

Compounded mental anguish
Is more than physical
And I'm learnin' mighty quick, yeah
It's not my final goal

Equate a prison sentence
For being locked out here
This time it's with a vengeance
And I'm gonna make it clear

And I've got just
Two seconds
To cut the final cord

Our mission
It's simple
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

Solo

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

We're not
We're not
We're not expendable

Kirk Cameron

Written By: D. Daskal / P. Baumgaertner

I remember going to the grocery store
Walking on those dirty floors
They endlessly always tried to clean

Passing all the aisles of food
Across from the 'Dairy', Dude
Contained lots of Kiddie magazines

Filled with bright and such colorful pictures
Smiling faces like Corey Haim and Corey Feldman

Poofy hair
80s garb
But Teen Beat and Bop was all you

Kirk Cameron
Why did you change
It's not so deranged
To think you'd be great in a Rated R movie

"Like Father, Like Son"
Will be just the one
Reminding what was
There'd be hope for the future

Kirk Cameron

Bless that Casting Director
Who put all of you together
On that program "Growing Pains"

Man, Tracey Gold was hot
And Leonardo got a shot
And how that Ben kid was annoying

The coolest Dad
And Mom was rad
But Boner and the show was all you

Kirk Cameron
Why did you change
It's not so deranged
To think you'd be great in a Rated R movie

"Like Father, Like Son"
Will be just the one
Reminding what was
There'd be hope for the future

Kirk Cameron

Repeat

Now all you little boys and girls who don't know Kirk Cameron sing

Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na

Come on
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na

Our Lives

Written By: E. Lordan / D. Daskal / P. Baumgaertner / D. Freeman / J. Baumgaertner

No, I'm not a fan of love songs
But I've been holdin' in for so long
You're pushin' things
It destroys me
Now I need you to wake up and see

We tried so hard to make it work
But too much tryin's become absurd
Now I loved you more than anyone else
But you must open up, and find yourself, 'cause

Our lives
Were not meant to be lived together
Good times
Yeah, there were plenty of them
We try
To block out, but we still remember
Now I cry
In my house, all alone for you

It's not such a bad thing for the both of us
Someday you'll find someone you can trust
But until then, I wish you the best
And know I cared for you through all this mess

Our lives
Were not meant to be lived together
Good times
Yeah, there were plenty of them
We try
To block out, but we still remember
Now I cry
In my house, all alone for--

Our lives
Were not meant to be lived together
Good times
Yeah, there were plenty of them
We try
To block out, but we still remember
Now I cry
In my house, all alone for you

Melissa

Written By: D. Daskal / P. Baumgaertner / J. Baumgaertner

I see your smiling face
And I know it's something no one can replace
You speak the truth
You voice your mind
You are for real

These days
It's really tough to meet a person
Who's shining through like gold as good as you

From me to you
I want to tell you honestly
I can't believe you're real
And this is just exactly how I feel

Melissa
There's a fire burnin' strong so deep
In your heart awake and when you sleep
You glow

And I wish ya
All the best that life has got to give
You and I both know just how to live

The sweetest summer day
Identical what you portray
The breeze
The warmth
The flowers in the grass

Don't change
Life can throw some wicked turns
You're one of a kind and I know that's for sure

From me to you
I want to tell you honestly
I can't believe you're real
And this is just exactly how I feel

Melissa
There's a fire burnin' strong so deep
In your heart awake and when you sleep
You glow

And I wish ya
All the best that life has got to give
You and I both know just how to live

And when the rain starts pourin' down
You keep your feet up on the ground
Don't ever doubt yourself
And always know
'Cause I'll always know

Melissa

There's a fire burnin' strong so deep
In your heart awake and when you sleep
You glow

And I wish ya
All the best that life has got to give
You and I both know just how to live

Repeat Chorus

Melissa

Between Us

Written By: J. Baumgaertner

Whenever you close your eyes
And hide behind your senseless masquerade
You know that you test the bonds between us

(You try to hide)
Whenever you try to hide
And shield your eyes behind your mask of pain
You know that it breaks the trust that we confided

The forces between us
Could cause to join our hearts to beat as one
(They'll beat as one)
We'll fight to unite them
The forces
Between us

You laid it all on the line
You placed your mines
My mind's been ripped apart
My bombed out remains you've burnt asunder

(You fought so hard)
And now that you fought so hard
To breach the wall around my beaten heart
You search through the wreckage you left us under

The forces between us
Must search to find the trust we long forgot
(We long forgot)
We'll fight just to rescue
The forces
Between us

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

The forces between us
Have clashed and torn a rift between too hearts
(Between two hearts)
The damage is done now
There's nothing left

Solo

The forces between us
Must join to mend the rift between our hearts
(Between two hearts)
The damage is done now
Is something left?

Between us
Between us
Between us
Between us
Go!

Face Bleed

Written By: D. Daskal / P. Baumgaertner / J. Baumgaertner

He comes home
Late from work
She's got her arms folded
He doesn't feel like a jerk

To the kitchen
"Where's my dinner"
She says,
"It's cold now
Did you expect it to be different?"

"Different"
He says, "Different?"

She starts to worry now

He's pacing ground floor
She proceeds defense
"You didn't call me
I was worried sick"

In a zone now
No way to save
What happens how
Can any justify?

You make the face bleed
Every time you punch it
You mess the brain up
Successful when you mend it
You tear the heart out
With no one there to witness
You make the face bleed
Every time
Every time
Every time you punch it

"Where's your homework?
Did you finish it?"
"I didn't need to
It isn't due yet."

"Finished"
"Isn't finished"
He knows what's comin' now

Makes for a quick run
Doesn't get too far
Before he's thrown down
And is the metal hard

You make the face bleed
Every time you punch it
You mess the brain up
Successful when you mend it
You tear the heart out
With no one there to witness
You make the face bleed
Every time
Every time
Every time
Every time

Solos

Don't blame you
It's not your fault
It's uncalled for
You gotta tell someone

You make the face bleed
Every time you punch it
You mess the brain up
Successful when you mend it
You tear the heart out
With no one there to witness
You make the face bleed
Every time
Every time
Every time you punch it
