"The EP is deceptively yet beautifully simple. It's the sound of running barefoot in a dew encrusted meadow in white chiffon. It's the soundtrack to one of those dreams where everything in your life is perfect." The Devil Has The Best Tuna

Biography

Born in Santiago de Chile, one of the southernmost southern countries of the world where deserts, waterfalls, glaciers and mountains coexist in a 4000 km coastline, Yael began dancing and singing at a very young age. Always humming made up tunes, she took on formal piano training at age 5, song-writing at 8 and guitar playing at 13. At 19, after receiving a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, she moved to the U.S.

Currently based in Los Angeles, Yael continuously collaborates with various songwriters, film-makers and performance artists.

Her new EP "Heartbeat" (out Nov. 10th 2009) features all new material written by Yael. Recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Tim Myers, Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes) "Heartbeat" includes guest appereances by Danny Levin on trumpet (Lenka), Fil Krohnengold on acoustic guitar and accordion (Meiko) and Joseph Karnes on bass (Jesca Hoop).

Lyrics

Shed Their Fear

Written By: Yael Meyer

As I walk above the pavement, I can feel you walking with me carrying me
And I hear above the silence all these voices screaming loudly at my ear

Shed their fear
Shed their fear on me

Living in a world of lies is not amongst the holy sites I site from here
Grant me strength to dissipate the dark that haunts and pierces deeply like a spear

Shed their fear
Shed their fear on me

As I walk above the pavement, I can feel you walking with me carrying me
And I hear above the silence all these voices screaming loudly at my ear

Tea For Two

Written By: Yael Meyer

When our days of youth have passed us by
All the kids and grand-kids began to fly
Once again it will be you and me
Sitting barefoot beneath the shade of a summer tree

And we’ll laugh at our wrinkly toes
our gray hair and my crooked nose
You’ll look at me and I will look to you
and we’ll make tea for two

And in the winter when it’s gray and cold
You’ll tell me stories as the day unfolds
And in the evenings I will sing to you
And we’ll make tea for two

Na na na, na na na na, na na na

When our sheer good looks begin to fade
Wrinkled eyes, fake teeth are here to stay
Everyone around will think we’re old
But to me you’ll always be the one
I love with all of my soul

And we’ll take walks along the Persian rug
We’ll cuddle closely really warm and snung
You’ll look at me and I will look to you
And we’ll make tea for two

And in the winter when it’s gray and cold
You’ll tell me stories as the day unfolds
And in the evenings I will sing to you
And we’ll make tea for two

Na na na, na na na na, na na na

Heartbeat

Written By: Yael Meyer

Days are getting shorter life is speeding up
Sometimes it goes too fast
Sometimes it goes too fast

And I don’t’ wanna waste a second
Not a moment, just a moment
Going on the wrong lane
Oh that would be a pain

I’ll be traveling at the speed of my own heartbeat
I’ll be traveling at the speed of my own heartbeat
traveling at the speed of my own heartbeat
traveling at the speed of my own heartbeat
Ooooo, oooooo, oooooo

Looking at the yard where we used to roll around
All covered in soil, getting our clothing all spoiled
And we’d gather all the socks from around the house
So we could start a war, and get to play some more

Build a crooked castle out of blankets and broken old chairs
Setting up the mattress to slide down the living room stairs
Tandem riding our little yellow bike on a two way street
Traveling at the speed of our own heartbeats
Ooooooooo

Days are getting shorter life is speeding up
Sometimes it goes too fast
Sometimes it goes too fast

Traveling at the speed of my own heartbeat
traveling at the speed of my own heartbeat
traveling at the speed of my own heartbeat
Traveling at the speed of my own heartbeat
Ooooo, oooooo, oooooo

I Wonder How

Written By: Yael Meyer

Surely I cannot imagine, what you must think of me now
Buried here beneath the rubble, all this unexpected trouble how
I wonder how, will we find it in our hearts
to forgive the misregards and doubts?

It’s not the change that we expected
Nor something we protected for
Nobody prepared the plate
oh how could we have known what to wait for

Now we find ourselves at loss, in the midst of this great toss
and how, I wonder how?
If I don’t even know within me
What it is that is still hindering me
from loving you like I do.

Buried here beneath the rubble, all this unexpected trouble how
I wonder how, will we find it in our hearts
to forgive the misregards and doubts?

Favorite Two

Written By: Yael Meyer

Sun is shining what a lovely day
birds are singing and that’s always great
but it’s better when I’m with you
my all time favorite two, my favorite two

Rainy days are also nice
sound of rainfall and the cloudy skies
but it’s better when I’m with you
everything is better when I’m with you
my favorite two, my favorite two

Na na na na na na na na na na na na na

I like traveling to crazy places
meeting brand new people with brand new faces
but it’s better when I’m with you
everything is better when I’m with you
my favorite two, my favorite two

Na na na na na na na na na na na na na

Some days are no fun and I’m feeling blue
singing a happy song just won’t do
but then I see you and you flash me a huge smile
and everything is better I can’t deny
cause it’s better when I’m with you
my favorite two, my favorite two

Na na na na na na na na na na na na na
