Bio

YA-HA! began in the summer of 2010 with the launch of the first EP "Überdosis Du" (Overdose of You). From then on daily life has changed for the filmmaker Janna Wonders and the "Blumentopf" rapper Flo Schuster: early morning starts on the
ZDF morningshow with their distorted guitar sounds, lunchtime celebrations of their "Nr.1 hit" "Fake Coco Chanel" followed by radio interviews and live shows in the afternoons.

YA-HA! started the new year with a legendary show at the Morrissons Pub in Cannes during the MIDEM Fair 2011 creating ever more YA-HA! mania within both the music industry and the music scene. YA-HA!s music is exactly what the name suggests: a straightforward, loud and powerful force to be reckoned with.

The german-american singer Janna - whose mother toured through America during the Summer of Love - was born in a hippy town in California and later grew up in the legendary "harem" of Rainer Langhans in Germany. It is Janna's songwriting that is
the mastermind behind the band with her New Wave, NDW and 80's inspired melodies being the starting point of the songs journey. Her singing is both energetic and tough as well as dreamy and full of yearning. Her love of music has also shaped
her work as a filmmaker with various music videos and an Hip-Hop documentary shot in LA under her belt. Her documentary "Kinder der Schlafviertel" (Street Punk
Moscow) about Punks in the subburbs of Russia won her several prestigious newcomer Prizes.

Flo Schuster is the second bandmember of YA-HA! who takes it in a totally different direction from his other band "Blumentopf". After a plethora of top album hits and sold out tours - (on which Janna also features) - Flo is happy to blend into the background, swapping the microphone and center stage for a drumcomputer and a synthesizer. The songs are interspersed with raps that sound like an homage to 80's singer Falco, sometimes like a dadaist vocal sample part, other times with a contemporary electro sound.

Janna and Flo compose their energetic and impulsive songs together with Dirk Dirksen (Guitar) and Flo Laber (Bass) resulting in an immediate and catchy sound. This alchemy has created an innovative sound, full of nostaligia for the hayday of
german pop music whilst still retaining a sound definitively of our times.

YA-HA!s debut album "Immer und Überall" (Forever and Everywhere) takes the listener on a tour from the "Robotermädchen" (Robotgirl), to losing oneself in "Totales Chaos" (Total Chaos) and making the listener dance the night away to "Elektrisch ist die Nacht" (Electric Night).
The band creates its song "Magie" (Magic) with a hypnotic computer music beat and brings the club to its knees at the sound of "Fake Coco Chanel". "Herz bleibt stehen" (Heart Stops Still) shows the other side of YA-HA! with a softer and more poeticsound that talks of lovers meeting again. "YA-HA! " is the last song, reinforcing their mantra that will take over autumn 2011.

Their live acts have seen them be the support band for the Blumentopf and Grossstadtgeflüsters tours as well as various festivals throughout Germany. A solo club and radio tour, in conjuction with EGO FM, are in the works.

Noone dances alone. YA-HA! sound is for everyone, everywhere!
