Bio

The gift is the music, lyrical skills, and versatility. The curse is the adversity that we all must conquer when pursuing our dreams. Yah-Key which means "God's Key," is a hip-hop artist that possesses the gift and is fully aware of the curse. From near-death situations to performing alongside the likes of Ludacris and other major performers; Yah-Key is a true MC with a story to tell and a message to give. Born and raised in Chicago, IL Yah-Key often prayed and dreamed of being able to grace the stage with his favorite hip hop artists. At the age of 16 Yah-Key began to make his dream a reality by writing lyrics and poetry for friends, which illustrated his creativity amongst his peers. However, having a great jump shot and dribbling skills would detour Yah-Key for a few years because he wanted to focus on his high school basketball career with former teammate; now nationally known NBA superstar Bobby Simmons.

Shortly, after being exposed to the fast life in addition to the materialistic aspect that came with it, began to pull Yah-Key away from high school basketball and forced him to make a decision between the two. At the time, not knowing once his decision was made to put basketball on hold, his coach had a valuable lesson in store that would help him alongside his journey through life. Unexpectedly, the fast life Yah-Key chose to lead during his growing years placed him in some near death situations more than once, which made him realize there was an unusual purpose for his life.

While in pursuit of that purpose, Yah-Key has performed at numerous venues across the country. These opportunities have allowed him to build a fan base in various cities, states, in addition to the world wide web. His talent has allowed him to create two albums produced by G.O.O.D Music / Sony Urban Label producer “Keezo Kane” who was originally discovered by Grammy Award winning artist Kanye West. In addition, Yah-Key has also done several mixtapes with Miami, FL based producer Cudda Brown; who has produced a great deal of hit records for southern based hip hop artists. All in all, independently Yah-Key has dished off more than 20,000 mixtapes in a 6 month period leaving fans eager for a national appearance.
