Biography

Mastering your craft is something that is not easily accomplished and, in most cases, never fully seized. Yazid Britt, who goes by the alias, Ya Money, has been on that road for quite sometime now. After falling under the tutelage of Grammy nominated producer Dirty Swift of Midi Maifa ("21 Questions"--50 Cent; "When I See You"--Fantasia), Ya's lust for music soon became a full blow passion which as amounted for countless hours in the studio living up to the legendary quote, "practice makes perfect".

After years of learning the ins and outs of production and the nature of the music business, Ya Money opened the flood gates to what is sure to be a long and prosperous career by starting his publishing company, Signature RockSoul Music, Inc. When asked about the name, the answer was simple.

"You know how people get that look on their face when they think of soul & rock? That's the same look I want them to have on their face when they hear my songs. I want to leave them hungry for more," said Ya Money.

In addition to providing the masses with contagious instrumentals, the company was also started because of the birth of his first child, Isiah, in June 2008.

"The birth of my son really opened my eyes to a lot of things. It made me realize I'm not living for just me anymore. When it's all said and done, I want my son to look at me and realize I wasn't afraid to take chances to make a better life for me and him."

The passion and intensity is seen with every production that originates from the SRS camp. But, the one element that seperates Ya Money apart several others is orginality and creativity.

"I want each beat I produce to be a reflection of life itself. Whether you wanna party, ride down the highway with the windows down or some instrospective stuff...I have all that. I'm not trying to be the next Dre, Kanye, Just Blaze or Toomp. I want their success, but I want to be my own producer."

Led by the infectious "Ya Money gave me this beat!" disclaimer at the beginning of every track, the 23 year old from East Orange, N.J., knows the only way he will ever become a household name is to grind his way to the top, which he has no problem doing.

"If it takes me feeding my son, changing his diaper and thinking of a drum pattern in my head, that's just what it is," said Britt. "But I have no problem fighting my way to the top because it's something I know I deserve. I won't stop until Signature RockSoul is a household name."
