“When love was murdered, my art was born” is how YANN defines his creative inspiration. Behind his music and artist persona, there’s a unique melting pot. Not only he was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but he’s also half African and has a Jewish background. These introductory facts are just the first steps into comprehending the complex multi-cultural creative process behind his extravagant pop music.

The embodiment of his work is a phonographic journey into himself based on personal experiences extracted from his life through the prism of journals, letters and dreams. Hopes, fears, desires, rejections, fantasies and affairs are his creative inspirations to write music. While musical influences define a major part of his artistic self, other forms of artistic expression add a complex and unique dimension to his creative output. Cinema, photography, visual art, and prose provide a basis on which to YANN composes and performs.
