"Top 11 Independent Release's of 2013 w/ Andre' Obin"

High school friends Adam McGinn and Andy Kai Nagashima are about much more than nostalgia. Following on from their debut self-titled release, YDIMITU, the Boston left-field R&B/experimental duo, EARLY NINETIES, return with down-tempo offering, Playboy; a mature composition reflecting on the things we claim to need which are also, consequently, the hardest to receive. Driven by soft piano and scaled back electronic percussion, Playboy experiments with more of a hip hop structure than what the duo have exhibited before. Surrounded by Green Lights, for instance, and one of their earlier debut singles, has less to do with pbR&B and more to do with chip-tune excerpts and synthesized sounds. However, given that it’s still the first year of releases for this duo they can easily afford play around with these genres confidently without benchmarking their sound too early. Boston once
again reveals another promising and mature debut music act from their bottomless pool of talent.

""Playboy" Feature"

If you love your chillwave infused hip-hop with some extra open hi-hat on top of that, having YDIMITU’s “Playboy” within arms reach comes highly recommended.

We get that “Playboy” is not going to win any “blow your mind” awards, but what it is going to do is mellow you out when you need it to. So for that simple reason, we implore you to dive into this one… - Hilly Dilly

"Middle East Downstairs 9/16 Review"

"I was only able to catch the end of the electronic rock band Early Nineties’ set but from what I heard, they played a killer set. With their transitions from Electronic Rock to smooth R&B to funky Hip-Hop, they made sure the crowd was never bored while people continued to file into the venue. Also, Early Nineties interacted with the crowd as much as possible, giving them chances to sing along the words and raise the energy of the club. During their melancholic song about breakups, I remember the singer of the band say, “This song is for anyone who has ever loved someone and then had their heart broken” and I swear I saw some tears in the crowd." - Cyrus - MetroJolt
