"THE RAW AND ELECTRIC ROCK FROM YEALLOW | RUE89 News"

The Yeallow band celebrates in its own way the 20th anniversary of the French Carte Culture. Sunday the 25th november in the auditorium of the Museum of modern and contemporary art in the company of Jeremy Bellot for unstructured video concert.
[...]

There’s raw energy, alertness, drums almost frantic, hypnotic bass, guitar riffs and vocal timbre excited joyfully dark and almost sepulchral. This is what emerges from the single effective, The Void. With this impression, in the end, the darkness can both lead to darkness but also light. And this is what is working to Fred, Mister T, Piment and Bill.

"YELL OUT FOR YEALLOW | 02 ACADEMY ISLINGTON | RAW RAMP MAG | JULY 2012"

When this unlikely group of strange looking fellows took the stage at The O2 Academy Islington, London this week the audience didn’t know quite what to think.

The ‘Costello’ (or perhaps Loyd Grossman), double on the guitar / keys (Fred) seemed – to all the world – as if he was urgently looking for a fight. And the gurning the bass player (Bill) seemed quite extraordinarily deranged.

So, understandably, the audience kept themselves at a safe distance from the stage.

But YEALLOW ( this quartet from Strasbourg, France) with their musicality, precision mechanics, and hard edged indie rock sounds, soon gained a cautious crowd.

With songs like ‘Blown Away’ we got a pliant funky base – with fizzy splashes of guitar chords and those characteristically bleak and even somewhat somnolent vocals that may remind you of ‘Morrissey’. These vocals tended to spiral around like mayflies in a spring breeze. Rattling good drum-work ensured things were kept chugging along in a uniform way, and the bass play kept things deeply bubbling under the surface.

With a keen ear for idiomatic key change ( wherever it can be squeezed in), and a desire for authentic craftsmanship to create their moody aural soundscapes, Yeallow were shamelessly punk most of the time- yet they really were as soft as a puppy dog’s tummy – when it came down to it.

Driving, repetitive and mechanical they may be, but they were also able to provide finely-cut pop songs with deserving choruses, at the appropriate moment. Their emotions may have been hard to decipher, but their intentions were clear – they were there to make populist rock music for the rank and file – inflected, naturellement, with a thick slice of Alsatian philosophical whimsy.

There is nothing fashionable about this band – quirky is the word. But there is something engaging and entertaining to be discovered within their relaxed Gallic off-beat charm. Check them out to see what I mean.

"YEALLOW SHOW REVIEW LONDON"

Yeallow a French based band made their London debut at the famous Camden Rocks venue. In a great live venue for gigs, Yeallow launched into a fast paced tempo waking the crowd up and getting their attention. ‘Blown Away’ was an upbeat track with a great flow to it and really set the mood for the rest of the set.

You could see the band enjoyed each others company and knew they could rely on each others talents to come through. Througout the set they were smiling and their passion was obvious for everyone to see. They had come to put on a show for their London crowd and didn’t want to disappoint. With the stage being so small and the band being contained within the space the bass player dived into the crowd whilst still playing during the track ‘Oversized’

The crowd were getting more and more into the gig the longer Yeallow played, with heads moving and swaying, tapping their feet and dancing about.

Midway through playing ‘To The Deep’ there was a solo which included all of the band members doing various activites adding another element and improvisation to the show. Two thirds of the way through their song ‘Seventeen’ the topless drummer in shades, exploded into an individual solo, going faster and faster showing his full range of skills. The lead singer also got on the keyboard to show he can also play keyboard as well as the guitar.

Yeallow had definitely left a mark with the crowd wanting more and they will want to see them back in London soon. I’m sure Yeallow will have picked up a few more London based fans after their energetic and fun-fuelled set.

"2891 Seconds | Zicazic.com | June 12, 2010"

A wellknow forum in France called Zicazic made its opinion about the “2891 Seconds” Album.

Yeallow by its new album is able to be one of the recognised worlwide band coming from France. Indeed, great sounds and songs are made to be hits.

Sometimes, the spirit from Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Bowie or Lou Reed are present but in a arty mix from the best of the past turned to the future.

We advise to listen to “2891 Seconds’”, this time will sure, convince you to be fan.

"2891 SECONDS CD | MUZZART | JULY, 10 2010"

Strasbourg gave us, in the past and more newly, of bands such Kat Onoma, for the first option, and Crocodiles for second, each in its own style.

Yeallow registers in it, in a more conventional schema, but makes also proof of address in composition of one pop-rock which goes of the energetic (“Strange days”) to the most ingratiating (“Keep that morning feeling”), through at this beginning of album by a nice series of mid-tempi tied up well, following with an “Oversized” that remembers me The Stranglers with a good voice added with fine electric effects.

They touch lightly even the class of Rodolphe Burger and its acolytes the time of “Here Comes” whom I would have as my part seen well on “Cupid”, superb midnight blue album of Philippe Poirier and Co, or of ”The Map”, in significant linked voices.

The start is of good manners (“After tomorrow”, made by refined and acidulous pop) and Yeallow, if it is hardly surprising, develops numerous good ideas, by being furthermore held in a certain simplicity in its compositions, expanded with correctness, without wrong additions.

We like ” If only “, for example, its low podgy and the fine guitars, or ” What will you do? “, endowed with solid melodies which supports hard riffs, and the whole is well held, wobbling only across a parallel style defect of which is to be already very played.

Yeallow puts right it by showing a laudable and measured eclecticism, devoting himself on “Supergliding” to a power-pop in ringing guitars of the nicest effect. “Call it desire” develops even a noisy, jerky woof, which supplements and gives energy to the panel of the guys from Alsace, before “Raindrops” makes a good melting of acoustic and electric guitars. The voice gives there really added strenghs.

Finally, it is “Your perfect existence”, put down, piano-voice at first then more mucked up, strong of a coating almost shoegaze, that puts an end, with elegance and in a relating torment, in a good album, without weaknesses nor swagger.

A band to be therefore followed, by waiting for lightly more individual and such a successful suite.

"YEALLOW “2891 SECONDS | CD | CONTRE-CULTURE INFO | JUNE 30, 2010"

By finishing this album with Jay Franco, the frenchies from Yeallow want definitely to go away from France.

Ambitious plan therefore for “2891 Seconds” that starts with “After Tomorrow” and its charismatic voice added to a great melody. I find also a good energy, great sounds and wanted to discover the next track. “If Only” enters my head, I have to say that even a too clean sound borries me, Yeallow songs are very pleasant to listen to. We can appreciate “Strange Days”, “Oversized”, “Here Comes” and the sensibility of “Keep that morning feeling”.

When it becomes too calm, Yeallow comes to rock tracks as “Supergliding”, “Call it desire” and ends this album with piano and strange sounds.

I am really convinced by this album and, if this band wasn’t french, we would like it is, so appreciate before they leave…

"Music Choice | 2891 Seconds | Blues Again.com | July 2010"

I was surprised to receive a CD from Yeallow. I used to speak about Blues. This album has an elegance even in its design, the music sounds also great. It makes me remember (I m not an expert) to Pink Floyd, Mike and the Mechanics but closer to Radiohead. The music is straight, the production really good and the melodies are well thought.

Yeallow’s music goes from the 70’s with the guitars to nowadays with electro. I advise you to take 48 minutes to hear this album and if you like alternative pop rock, you will be seduced.

"Yeallow | Anusaya Japan | Interview | August, 31, 2010"

Yeallow is Fred C (vocal, guitar, keyboard), Pascal C (vocal, guitar, keyboard), Fred T (guitar, chorus), Bill O (bass) and Olivier “Piment” (drums, chorus). As a group of five, Yeallowcreates rich and energetic songs with mature lyrics. This alternative style with no hang-ups about its rock influences, is a New pop-rock sound — As if Lou Reed were to sing a ballad with Pearl Jam in the style of Radiohead with Brian Ferry and Bowie’s elegance! References acknowledged, but without reverence!

I talked to vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Fred C about the Yeallow‘s new album 2891 Seconds, and the band’s dream of touring Japan. - Anusaya.com

Bio

YEALLOW is a rock alternative band formed by four musicians – Fred (vocals, guitars, keyboard), T (lead guitar, backing vocals) Piment (drums), Bill (bass, keyboards).

For Yeallow, rock can not be improvised. One can feel its licked riffs, its chords and graphed effects. And if that artistic quality is expressed in hard album, it makes total sense on stage where the band gives way to real shows that carry the audience into the world of “musicality, precision mechanics, and hard edged indie rock sounds” – Neil Mach / 07.12.

After a first album in 2010 (2891 seconds) and some singles (The Bright Side & The Void | Blown Away), YEALLOW hits the scenes of many festivals, venues and clubs like The Bus Palladium (Paris), The Whisky a Go Go (L.A.), The Cat Club (L.A.), The Cavern Club (Liverpool), The Halfmoon (Putney), The Camden Rock (London), O2 Academy (Islington), The Festival des Artefacts (Strasbourg, France), …

Now the band is preparing the next step with a brand new album coming soon and a big tour in Europa in 2013 (East Europa, Germany, Austria, England).

Stay tuned…
