Biography

Amanda and Meghan Sparboe together comprise the sibling singer/songwriting duo The Yellowstone Girls. Born, raised, and based out of Billings MT, Amanda is the singer and guitarist for the band that melds the acoustic sounds of Led Zeppelin, Joan Baez, and Neil Young with the Melodic senses of Elton John and Lady Gaga. Meghan’s lead vocals and soulful harmonies draw from influences as diverse as Alicia Keyes, Jefferson Airplane and Janis Joplin. Together their ethereal vocals combine to bring fresh air into their songwriting compositions and prompted local music veterans to call Yellowstone Girls the ‘next big thing’ in Montana music!

Currently Amanda and Meghan are hard at work recording the yet to be titled debut of The Yellowstone Girls for release in the summer of 2011. The sisters have also stripped down their sound to simply guitars and vocals and are playing live at acoustic venues in Billings and the surrounding area such as the Railyard, The Palace, and the Garage. A release party is planned for the summer, with live performances by the Girls as well as special guests.

Amanda has always been a songwriter and performer, having started singing and playing the piano at age 5. Along with her sister, Meghan, she has been performing in churches, retirement homes, for weddings and private parties for many years. She has always been a singing/songwriting ‘team’ with her sister, and in 2010 their ambitions finally culminated in the formation of the Yellowstone Girls. Having attended 1 year of schooling for classical piano performance and after performing in numerous bands, Amanda has always known that her career path would travel down the road to performing her own music.

Meghan’s history has intertwined with her sister’s and she has been writing her own music since the age of 9. To this day, she is as nearly as much a poet as a songwriter, preferring to write down thoughts, feelings, and stories, in all aspects of life that later morph into one of The Yellowstone Girl’s signature songs.

Lyrics

It's Not Fair

Written By: Amanda & Meghan Sparboe

Every time I see your face, I truly feel so far away.
From all the things I used to know, your kiss, your touch, that sweet hello.
People say that life's not fair, well I refuse to live in fear.
In fear of life's unruly games, now I finally have something I'm just dying to say.

It's not fair to love somebody who doesn't feel the same.
And it's not fair to love somebody who doesn't call my name.
These tears have cried a thousand times, for your sweet soul.
But now it's time to say goodbye, It's time I should let go of you.

I dreamed just how our days would have been, If you and I would have stayed to the end.
But then I wake up mystified to find you gone, not by my side.
And here I waste another night of sleep, thinking of all those girls I could be.
This heart you own can't take anymore, so i'm letting go, this time it's for sure.

It's not fair to love somebody who doesn't feel the same.
And it's not fair to love somebody who doesn't call my name.
These tears have cried a thousand times, for your sweet soul.
But now it's time to say goodbye, It's time I should let go of you.
