Yelz

Yelz is a  hip hop artist/emcee who was born and raised in New Orleans. The oldest of five children, she was raised by her grandmother and discovered at an early age that she could escape the cyclical poverty that surrounded her by writing poetry. She was only 10 years old when she began to understand the power of music as she witnessed  its ability to bring people together. Almost immediately she knew that  she had to be a part of that and began to write the poems that would later inspire her lyrics. Her music is a direct reflection of who she is, the things she has experienced and a collection of visions that she has gathered throughout life. Her lyrics are infused with personal thoughts and feelings that speak to people of different backgrounds possessing a sound that is as unique as Yelz herself. The  lyrical genius is also a deeply spiritual person who believes that people must  understand the importance of being true to  who they are.  Her lyrics are passionate, soulful and a true testament of her poetic beginnings. Inspired by the no limit/cash money era and the vibrant city she calls home, Yelz has continued to blossom into the musician we know today acquiring a strong fan base locally and throughout the U.S. Yelz's first solo mix tape, The Flight, was quicly follwed by Concrete Jungle. Her first EP, Black Summer, helped to solidify her as an artist by impacting the local music scene. Soon after, Black Summer Vol. 2 was released summer of 2014 it set the NOLA music scene on fire, but its the much anticipated Black Summer Vol. 3, set to be released summer of 2015, that has fans anxiously awaiting the release of her tour dates. With her quick success Yelz has proven to be an Artist we should keep an eye out for.
