Biography

It is one thing to write songs, it is another to songwrite. I wasn’t 19 when I wrote my first song. I had tried it with my brother when I was much younger, but something changed in 2002 when I started writing songs for a group while at Manchester University.

I suppose sometimes a passion grows and keeps growing and growing and you can’t stop till you have giving it attention. It is a beautiful thing to take words … just words and turn them into something that moves people to think beyond the words. When I finished finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest a few years back without any experience, I started thinking it was more than just a hobby. It definitely was. One or two years later after putting myself through one or two production courses, I tried again. That resulted in another finalist place finish and a semi-finalist place finish in the International Songwriting Contest. I now write songs continually, working with a few artists at D.H. Studios, London. Hopefully, soon I’ll be listening to my songs on the radio.

Check out http://www.dhstudios.co.uk - one or two of the songs I wrote are on there. More are on the way. If you are looking for a beautiful song, let me know :).

Forest of People

Written By: Oluyemi Asaolu

There are seven billion people on this earth
Yet every other second there’s a birth
How about the sixty million people on these isles
So would you tell me how I caught your eyes?

There are seven million people in this town
And everyone’s in a rush to make some pounds
Out of the million people there are lows and highs
But how do you explain how you caught my eyes

I don’t understand the way love works, no!
I don’t understand just how I found your love in this crazy world
Of millions of people
I don’t understand the way love works, no!
I don’t understand just how I found your love in this crazy world
You love in this forest of people

They say you can only have just one true love
And if you take your time, you’re better off
Or you would start at one and soon you’re at eight
So how did I know you were my soul mate?

I don’t understand the way love works, no!
I don’t understand just how I found your love in this crazy world
Of millions of people
I don’t understand the way love works, no!
I don’t understand just how I found your love in this crazy world
You love in this forest of people

In this forest of people

Forest of people

Slipping Away

Written By: Oluyemi Asaolu and Cari Winter

I should have known when the wind blew the other way
And all you left were words from yesterday
I can feel you slipping away from me
Like sand through my fingers
Slipping away from me

I can feel you slipping away
I can feel you slipping away

I saw the colours fading from your eyes
But you spared my pain with your sweet lies
I can feel you slipping away from me
Like memories of old
You’re slipping away from me

I can feel you slipping away
I can feel you slipping away

Still dreaming of you and I, in happier times
Hoping someday we will laugh when we look back
Still praying that I’ll wake up and find it was all a dream
Because I can’t bear the thought of you away

Why can’t this end like a fairy tale
Instead I feel my words begin to fail
Don’t you be slipping away from me
Like tears from my eyes
Slipping away from me

Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t you be slipping away
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t you be slipping away
Don’t you be slipping away
Don’t you be slipping away

Please, please, don’t go

Save Me

Written By: Oluyemi Asaolu and Cari Winter

Help me so I can fly, just like a butterfly
High above this cloudy spring
Give me wings of green, some kind of colouring
Or I’ll be lost somewhere on the road
But if you could save me, if you could save me
I’ll come home

Sail me out to sea, for the world to see
How far I’m willing to let it go
If you see me cry, don’t bother asking why
‘Cos it’s already sinking in the blue
But if you could save me, if you could save me
I’ll come home

So maybe I’ll come to my senses when I realise I’ve been to the edge of the universe
And after all my searching, finally I’ll discover that I can only have the earth
Then I’ll turn around and pack up all my worries and I’ll come home

Take me by the hand, bring me back to land
Home where flowers forever bloom
And when your light is on, finally I’ll see the dawn
Crawling closer in to my night
But if you could save me, if you could save me
I’ll come home

I’ll come home
