"Your Listening Pleasure"

Upon first listen, this Chicago-based four-piece sounds like The Futureheads-meets-The Arctic Monkeys with Television and the Replacements thrown in for good measure. But with vocal harmonies, a solid rhythm section, catchy chord progressions and a guitar riff interlude that would put Iron Maiden to shame, “Weight of the Horizon” proves that Yeni Raki is one of the few bands that can transcend their influences to create something both original and incredible. Basically, if you like any of the bands I’ve mentioned in this blurb, these young men just might be up your alley. If you’re in the Chicagoland area, see these guys live – their EP doesn’t do them justice at all.

Bio

Hailing from the Windy City Yeni Raki has been steadily on the rise since October 2006 when in August 2006 the band's lineup was finally set in stone with the addition of bass player Adam Romero.

Though their influences come from both sides of the spectrum, the finished product has a sound somewhere in between. Incorporating sounds similar to that of Guided by Voices, The Smoking Popes, and The Strokes, Yeni Raki has forged a sound that is distinctively their own.

Being a band for a year and a half may seem like no time at all though the band can be rooted to guitarist Kenon Gray and drummer Mitch Anderson, who had been playing in bands together throughout the four years of high school and beyond. It seemed the two had finally found their knack when they began writing songs with songwriter Sean Ruth, and shortly thereafter the recruitment of bass player, Adam Romero.

Yeni Raki is excited for the upcoming release of their debut EP, The Yeni Raki EP.
