Yiannis

BandPopSinger/Songwriter

I am a versatile, accomplished singer-songwriter with a powerful, soulful voice that can also be very tender and emotive. I love great melodies and lyrics that mean something and I feel that this is reflected in my songs - whether I'm writing ballads, dance tracks, acoustic material or pop.

Biography

I have been writing songs since the age of 11 and singing to live audiences since the age of 15.

My new album, which is available for purchase from my website (www.yiannisofficial.com) is entitled 'Depth Of My Design' and that phrase came to me when I was trying to sum up the burning desire I have always had to achieve great success as a recording and performance artist. People often comment on the emotion that I put across in my songs and I think that's essential to who I am. While the dream of fame and fortune burns away at my core, there is also the fundamental point of wanting to touch people - for them to listen to my songs and really connect with them. I think with my ballads in particular, people really do feel that connection.

In addition to the hunger for the 'bigger dream' I have also been singing professionally as a solo artist for over seven years and hence boast a versatile set list of covers and original material.

In 2000 I was part of a male/female mixed pop band called Exces5ive and we performed at, amongst other venues, the London Astoria. In April 2003, as part of the Help a London Child campaign, I was interviewed live on Capital FM by DJ James Cannon and granted two minutes of airtime to sing an excerpt from my own original song ‘The Power Of…’ acappella. The song has since been re-vamped and fully produced and is now the opening track of the new album ‘Depth Of My Design’.

Also in 2003, I received widespread television and press coverage when I was one of the top 75 finalists of Pop Idol Series 2, after beating out competition from over 20,000 applicants. My press coverage included three national newspapers and the front pages of two local newspapers. In addition to appearing on both the TV shows Pop Idol and Pop Idol Extra on numerous occasions throughout the series, I was also invited to be interviewed on morning TV show ‘Rise’. An interview and an excerpt from an original song were also aired on Essex FM in September 2003.

I find it difficult to categorise my music. I think it would generally fit under the umbrella of pop, but I love experimenting with different styles within that. I have been influenced by so many artists, a list of some of these artists can be found on my myspace page at www.myspace.com/yiannismusic

There's A Remedy

THERE’S A REMEDY
Lyrics & Melody by Yiannis
August 2006

There’s a remedy
Tell me what you see
Am I deluded
To not feel included

There’s a remedy
For the bruise inside of me
Whisper softly
Don’t leave abruptly

CHORUS:
I just can’t help it
When I start I cannot stop
I know it’s only
The beginning of the drop
Into destruction
I must believe that I can stop

There’s a remedy
Insatiability
Why do I do it
When I can see through it

There’s a remedy
For the masochist in me
I want my freedom
I need my freedom

REPEAT CHORUS

INSTRUMENTAL

REPEAT CHORUS
I must believe that I can stop

There’s a remedy
I’ll be searching steadfastly
Until I find it
Until I find it

Comfortable In Your Skin

COMFORTABLE IN YOUR SKIN
Lyrics & Melody by Yiannis
August 2006

Comfortable in your skin
Are you
Comfortable in your skin REPEAT

I see you’re moving on and that is hard to take
I used to be your number one and that’s what you’d say
I loved the way that you would always depend on me
But that’s unhealthy and I really really do see

That I’ve got to let you go and find your own way
And I’ve got to start to live my dreams again
So I ask myself

CHORUS:
Comfortable in my skin
Am I
Comfortable in my skin
Ho oh oh oh oh
Comfortable in my skin
I’m still not comfortable in my skin

I see you’re moving on and that should be ok
There is no reason why we simply cannot stay
In one another’s lives together as we planned
But there are changes that we really must command

And so I’ve got to trust myself to find my own way
And I’ve got to let you live your dreams with him
If I asked you

CHORUS 2:
Comfortable in your skin
Are you
Comfortable in your skin (I know the answer)
Comfortable in your skin (I can see that you’re)
Comfortable in your skin (That makes the difference)
Comfortable in your skin
Am I
Comfortable in my skin (I want to be)
Comfortable in my skin just like you’re
Comfortable in your skin

INSTRUMENTAL

REPEAT VARIATION OF CHORUS 2
