Bio

The Grayces are Murielle Rae and Gaelen Mitchell. Murielle is a classically trained vocalist who grew up traveling on the road. Gaelen is a self taught drummer from Alabama. They met in Nashville in 2006 and instantly had a musical connection. Tired of the traditional way of music making and wanting to create something true and authentic, they came together to play freedom letting the insides out.

Blending the liberty of psychedelic garage punk and polished artistry, they've created an avant-garde rock expression that is uniquely their own. Murielle's dynamic vocals swing from Joni Mitchell like fluid melodies to full on rock intensity. With every percussive movement Gaelen adds taste and vehement imaginative energy. Together they evoke a fine collection of rock that brings a point of introspection as your body rattles to the beat.

The Grayces have been playing professionally as a duo since 2007, their influences and artists alike include: Talking Heads, The Doors, The Velvet Underground, The Monks, Syd Barrett, Modern Lovers, John Lennon, The Pixies, Art Music and experiencing truth, culture, freedom, and nature.

They perform locally at venues such as The Basement, The Mercy Lounge, The 5 Spot, The Springwater and Vanderbilt University's WRVU 91.1 FM. In April of 2008 they traveled to France and performed on Radio Libertaire 89.4 FM , and at Paris venues La Feline and La Mechinique to rave reviews.

The Grayces are currently working on their debut album, "Soft Pillows," which is set to release in Fall of 2008. In the mean time you can catch them playing in and around Nashville. They plan to tour in support of their forthcoming release later in 2008. Find more at www.myspace.com/TheGrayces.
