While other artists are preoccupied with competing with their musical counterparts, rapper YN_Prop is busy focusing on staying in a league of his own. Hailing from Dorchester, MA, Prop (born Lamar Atkins) is a lyricist who specializes in spooling out dense rhymes that possess a potent poetic flare. Priding himself on his verbal skills ever since his high school days (he was even dubbed “Propa” by peers due to his lyrical abilities), the emcee used music to escape a reality that was punctuated with adversity and tribulations. However, YN_Prop’s undeniable ambition combined with his unprecedented artistry has resulted in endless opportunities.
Not only has he been featured on a slew of mixtapes, he has performed in venues across the country and around the world. In 2010, the brainchild of YN_Prop, Y.U.R.P. Nation, was born. Serving as an acronym for Young Urban Rebels Progressing, Prop hopes to instill a palpable social consciousness in the youth that he influences through his music.
