"Indie:Emerging Artist Yo Trane Releases Debut EP 'Late Night Drive'"

Indie R&B artist Yo Trane makes his official debut with the release of his ‘Late Night Drive‘ EP.

The 21-year-old French singer-songwriter describes his style as dark, trap-influenced R&B, but his smooth voice and ability to sing high notes softly, makes his lyrics speak to the soul.

“Popular music is often bright and sunny, while this project is more nocturnal and emotional,” explains Yo Trane of the 7-track project which was entirely produced by Kalim. “Late Night Drive is aimed at the people who have trouble sleeping at night so they would rather hang out with their lovers or take a spin in their whips to remedy the insomnia.”

"Yo Trane – Late Night Drive (EP)"

Twenty-one-year-old Parisian indie singer-songwriter Yo Trane has been writing songs since he was sixteen but was too shy to share anything online. It was only a year ago when he began uploading covers and remixes on his Youtube and Soundcloud and working on his debut project, Late Night Drive.

Calling his music “dark trap,” Yo Trane says Late Night Drive is aimed at the people who have trouble sleeping at night so they would rather hang out with their lovers or take a spin in their whips to remedy the insomnia.

"Yo Trane – Late Night Drive"

Having that mix of R&B smoothness and hip-hop brashness, Yo Trane has crafted a pretty nice freelease. Writing all the songs himself and teaming up with Kalim for the production, the dark and moody EP centers around the ins and outs of love and lust. Yo Trane’s vocal range isn’t huge, but he maximizes his sound by using what he’s got well and switching up the flow just enough to keep you invested from track to track.

Some of the song might remind people of early The Weeknd tracks from him epic trilogy of mixtapes, but there a definite sense of self here that doesn’t make that similarity sound like an intentional copy. His lyrics are to the point and contain some adult language, but he manages to smooth their delivery with his tone, which makes this expectable to a wider range of ears. Soft enough got the ladies and hard enough for the men, there is something here for everybody.

"Revolt TV Presents: Pardon My Pardon"

The first American artist Yo Trane heard was Kanye West. Like most of us, he fell in love with College Dropout, but there was one problem: He didn't understand English. Born and raised in France, Yo Trane loved rap so much that he began to teach himself the language of his favorite American artists. But eventually, he discovered that he was a much better singer than rapper. He went on to record his first EP, Late Night Drive, in his bedroom. But now, he's coming overseas.

REVOLT brings you Yo Trane's first American interview, an exclusive chat about his background, his sound, and more. The "High Off You" singer explains his trap-influenced R&B, the difference in cultures, and the reason he is making his way abroad. Get to know the French import before he takes off. - REVOLT TV

"Yo Trane - High Off You Video"

PREMIERE: Watch French singer Yo Trane let the music speak loudest in the video for "High Off You."

French singer-songwriter Yo Trane has shared a video for his new single "High Off You." While at first glance it seems that Trane does not even appear in the video, which features its female subject as the star, the singer can actually be seen briefly in a few short cuts, though his face is never visible. The approach lends to his mystique, and lets the music speak for itself. His delicate vocals are deceptively powerful, and their nuances are brought out by the dreamy production from Kalim. The song has seen a large amount of streaming since its release last December, and could prove to be a breakthrough hit for the singer.
