Bio

Yodelice is part of this new generation of French singers who, in the footsteps of the band Phoenix, write and perform in English. Born Maxim Nucci in 1979, in Créteil, France, Yodelice began playing music - bass, guitar & keyboards - at a young age and graduated from the London's Musician Institute. After a few years spent teaching guitar and playing in London pubs, the young man moved back to France where he rapidly encountered success as the producer.

Drawing his inspirations from the likes of JJ Cale, Tom Waits, Cat Stevens and Bob Dylan, his songwriting and composing create strong rock and folk songs.

In the process, he also created a new fictional character based on the universes of Tim Burton and Jim Jarmusch, "Yodelice" which he describes as a "tall bearded guy dressed in black who wears a feather on his bowler hat and a painted tear on his cheek". As for the name, it was borrowed from la "Casa Yodelice", in Spain, where the Artist composed songs for his first album, Tree of Life. This LP was released in 2009 and contained only English songs. It peaked at number 11 on the French albums chart, and received this year a "victoire de la musique" (the French equivalent to the Grammy awards) for revelation of the year.

Yodelice is back with a new Album 'Square Eyes' to be released on 21st October through Mercury / Universal.
