Yoel Diaz Cuban Jazz Session

 Montréal, Quebec, CAN

Great Cuban pianist and composer, Yoel Diaz created an original sound where modern jazz encounters cuban music. When he plays, you can feel the fire burning in his soul. Listen and you will then know what this attempt at words can never describe

This great pianist and composer was born in Holguin, Cuba, where he lived a childhood with the rhythms of Timba, Son and Cuban jazz. After studying percussion at the college of Camaguey Jose White, he began studying piano and composition of self-taught. In 1996, he was the musical director of the orchestra of Alfredo Morales (Chiquitin), legend of traditional Cuban music. Upon his arrival in Montreal in 1997, he was noticed by various jazz and Latin musicians. He was invited to take first part in several big names in Latin music such as Arturo Sandoval, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barreto and Sergeant Garcia. The year 2003 opens up new horizons with his first show at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal with his group and released his first album of original compositions entitled Te llegó. This album has received a most welcome provided by the public and critics.
