Proverbs 5 v. 4 proclaims, “The Words of the Lord are pure…” This is central to the vision which God placed in the heart of Yomon Mingia to combine melodic rhythms with “in your face”; Christ centered lyrics to deliver a powerful, direct, sincere and worshipful message of our Lord and Savior. An accomplished musician, Yomon has been chosen to spread the love of God through the mastery of musical instruments, writing of captivating lyrics, and delivery of musical renderings that encompass styles from various cultures, periods and life experiences.
Born in Bronx, NY in 1957, Yomon began playing music professionally at the age of 16. His performing experience includes stints with several Jazz big bands and local jazz groups in and around New York City. In 1988, Yomon felt the calling from God and left the secular Jazz music scene. In that year, he formed the contemporary gospel/jazz group, Joshua. However, after receiving direction from the Lord, he left Josuha in 1989, retiring from the music scene to study and develop his knowledge of the word of God. Then upon seeing a vision from the Lord, Yomon began getting involved in music again in 2002. In 2004, he embarked on a spiritually directed mission dedicating himself to writing music and lyrics as well as playing and producing music for his debut solo CD Worship GOD!
On his CD, Yomon displays his incredible musical anointing, by offering selections from various genres (Jazz, Latin, R&B, rap, blues, calypso and contemporary worship and praise music) resulting in a unique bled of scriptural based lyrics with melodies that capture the spirit and embody the message of God’s glory. His achievements on the Worship GOD project are the fruition of a GOD ordained musical ministry with a twofold purpose:
• Reach the hearts and souls of those who are not usually drawn to traditional or contemporary gospel music
• Praise and honor the glory of GOD throughout the land
