"Confidence Booster: Qui, Rising Artist’s New Single, Source of Courage to Shy Lovers"

Qui’s most recent release “Crush On You” contains assertive lyrical content that’s encouraging for the ladies. It has the potential to give women the valor to approach their crush. Qui doesn’t hesitate in any of her lyrics, “Listen to me baby though this might be blunt, I just want to touch before the night is done.” Biggie’s voice on the chorus gives the perfect touch to the song complimenting Qui’s smooth sounding vocals. "Qui - "Crush On You""

Rochester, NY native Qui, is fresh on the scene. Qui composes her own records, and hopes to become competitive in both the pop and the R&B market. With this beautiful voice though, luck is probably not needed as much as time. If Qui keeps pushing with a sickening work ethic, her odds of succeeding will be high. HipHopDX supports Qui's mission, props Qui!

"#IndieWatch: Qui (@YOOQUI), “Crush On You”; Homage To Lil’ Kim"

Qui, an artist hailing from Rochester, New York, releases a single which contains interpolations of Lil’ Kim’s hit song “Crush On You” featuring Notorious B.I.G. & Lil’ Cease. According to her Twitter bio, she is self-described as “A Rap Artist That Can Hit A Few Drake Notes.” Striving to be competitive in R&B, Pop and Hip-Hop music genres, this song makes plenty headway for the young songwriter.

Qui tells us her inspiration:

“I wrote this song because I had an actual crush on someone that I saw in a YouTube web series! I figured the only way to approach this person and not seem like the rest is to do what I do best and write a song. Eventually it didn’t work out, but I got a pretty dope song out of it.”

"Qui – “Crush On You” (Premiere)"

New York rapper and singer Qui gives a straightforward sentiment in her new song, “Crush On You.” The lyrics and feelings expressed are the epitome of a secret admirer longing for the attention and love from their romantic interest. “Crush On You” sends listeners on an ethereal ride through the mind of a lover on a mission.

The song samples a well-fitting hook from Lil Kim’s “Crush On You” circa 1997. Lil Cease’s voice floats over the track in a drowned out, love drunk sort of way to drive home the tone that Qui delivers. The song’s production creates a euphoric, otherworldly soundscape with the use of a gated lead throughout most of the track. It is complemented and completed with a low pass filter which creates smooth transitions and adds depth to the composition overall.

We can all relate to the feeling of searching for and wanting that special someone. You daydream about them and wonder if they feel the same about you. When we find them, it’s as if they are all our mind can focus on. Forget trying to formulate another idea outside of them. Cancel all plans and cognitive endeavors because until you get to the resolution of this romantic notion, not much else matters.

Qui explains: “I wrote this song because I had an actual crush on someone that I saw in a YouTube web series! I figured the only way to approach this person and not seem like the rest is to do what I do best and write a song. Eventually it didn’t work out, but I got a pretty dope song out of it.”
