Bio

The story started on September 19th,1985 in Atlantic, New Jersey, Young B.I was born "Naiym Qairy Hickerson-Cooper". As a child and the early years of his life he was always into music. He first discovered he had the talent at the age of 8 when he record a freestyle to a song that was playing on the radio. From there he knew that he wanted to rap. Not knowing anything about rapping or freestyling at the time he carefully look and studied rappers by watching music videos, listening to mixtapes and buying albums.
At the age of 15 he recorded his first freestyle on his computer over Meth and Redmans "How High" beat. From there his motivation and passion for his music increased. Sending out demos two years in a row (2001,2002) with no response caused him to worked harder at what he did. At the 16 he changed his rap name from "Lil Jamal" to "Lil'S" hoping a name change would give him a newer style & image but it consisted of him record numberous remixes to R&B songs. In 2003, he changed his name again to "Doe Boy". Still hungry and wanting to shine, he teamed up with "Blaze Burna". They met online and recorded numberous freestyles together and decided to form a group. The two of them together form "Major League". Two years later they are still together despite Blaze living in North Carloina. In the same year he also teamed up with long-time friend Javon Hawkins to start a record label "Jersey State Records". Naiym would serve as the President of the company. But that ended in 2004 when Naiym ended the relationshp with the the label for personal reasons. Deciding that being President of somebody elses label was'nt want he was after at the time. He always wanted to rap. With Jersey State Records changing its name to AOG Ent in 2004 and Naiym seeing how much people liking and feeling there first mixtape which featured the labels roster. It was clear to him that he had to left a winning team. So that made him get back to writing and working on his music.
In November of 2005, Naiym became really focus about his music and changed his name for the last and final time from "Doe Boy" to "Young B.I" with the B.I standing for "Believe In" he hopes that in 2006 that people start looking and taking him serious a artist who mastermind his craft and start believing. His statement for 2006 is "You Either Believe Or You Don't". Only time will tell if everybody starts believing as much as he does.
