Bio

Taking over the future requires power and Young Blee draws heavy doses of musical energy from his talent, shaping the power of songwriting into an aural weapon that kills the competition and snaps the listener to attention. “Music empowers me and gives me the confidence to pursue goals I would otherwise shy away from,” says Young Blee. “It fills me with a desire for success that I can’t walk away from.” And his music is bringing him that success on a gold-plated platter, a dish of victory drawn from hip-hop stylings that bring to the listener the same empowering energy in which Young Blee is drenched. He is an artist at the height of his powers. “I am inspired by the possibility of success.”

Born and raised on the tiny Caribbean island of Montserrat, he was forced to migrate at the age of fourteen by sporadic volcanic activity. Initially touching down in Canada, he briefly returned home before finally deciding to finish his education in England. It was here that his incredible passion for music ousted any lingering interest in academia.

Young Blee released his first album, ‘Island Boy’, in 2005 on his own CSC label, unaware that another label was already operating under the same banner. Now, on the eve of his new album, ‘Who’s Dat Boy?’, hitting the streets, the label is being re-launched as Cross Seas Entertainment and will soon see more projects come to fruition.

‘Who’s Dat Boy?’ presents a more confident and focused artist. The beats are more rounded, the bass heavier and live instrumentation adds a new dimension to the overall sound. The lyrics are also more revealing, touching on themes closer to their creator’s heart.

“I’m proud of the ‘Island Boy’ album,” says Young Blee, “especially as it was recorded and produced in my bedroom. But I’m in a space now where I know I’ve got so much more to deliver and doing it with a new company makes it that much more exciting. Finding out about that other label was a bit of a setback, but every disappointment is an opportunity for growth!”

Similar to few, identical to none, the identity of dat boy won’t be a mystery for much longer.
