"Meet Young Blizz"

What’s your name and where are you from? — — — -
I go by the name of Young Blizz & I’m from the 50z. That’s in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.
Why do you love what you do? — — — -
I’ve always loved music & sharing knowledge on what I’ve seen & known for as long as I could remember so being an artist was the perfect way to go for me. Very few people are lucky enough to do something that they enjoy let alone love for a living. Before I pursued it as a career I always wanted to be a rapper. I’m talking about wanting it from as young as 11 years old.
What makes you different? — — — -
What makes me different is not what I do but how I do it. There’s a certain substance lacking in rap right now & I more than provide what’s needed to fill in the gap. I feel like everything is like a pre-made type of music right now. Nothing that you would want to listen to 6 months to a year following its release let alone years later. No offense to anyone or anything. I’m not trying to be like or sound like anybody. I’m not trying to say I’m a rapper yet make music that’s mostly me trying to sing or anything like that.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? — — — -
I mean I don’t wanna say too much because as much as I believe that what’s meant for you is meant for you I also believe that evil & wicked people stop at nothing from preventing others from reaching the heights that they are meant to touch. I see myself fully situated & prominent not only as an artist but an actor, entertainer & businessman. As much as I love music there are other avenues & ventures that I would like to explore & take part in. Nothing lasts forever so I see myself continuing to grow & evolve in a positive & significant manner.
What do you want to accomplish in life? — — —
Well, a number one record of course I mean if you’re gonna do it then you might as well aim for the top right? But I just want to be successful to the point where I can live my life comfortably & take care of my family. I want to give back to my people & my community. I want to show children of all colors all over the world, especially in the ghettos that dreams can come true if you work hard keep the faith & don’t let anyone or anything stop you. I have a few goals on my bucket list but I’ll share more as I get closer to achieving them.
What do you bring to your industry? — — — -
I bring that bridge of multiple genres of music together to create hip-hop music. Lyricism, melodic hooks & choruses, pure untapped energy & talent. Being the child of Jamaican parents only helps to add extra flavor & spice to the heat that I’m already bringing.
What do you want to be remembered by? — — — -
I want to be remembered by the body of work I leave behind of course but also by how much I impacted the people of this earth. The positive effect I’ve had on those that have had the pleasure to meet me or take the time to listen to me. It’s easy to say “I want to be remembered as the richest or something like that” but what did that do for anyone else? I see myself, my voice & my talent as part of a bigger picture. - Sarah Blessing
