Young Getta – The Key To A Successful Music Career

“Stay focused! Keep chasing that dream and remember why you got started! I can’t stress that enough. Don’t let anyone or anything blur your vision. Keep your eyes sharp and be aware of everything that is going on around you. Be patient and think positive. Your thoughts control your Life. Day by day and little by little God is working on it, leave it in His hands. Your time is coming…”

Check out the interview with Sneek exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

Skilly: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
Young Getta: It all started when I was 8 years old, I grew up in Miami, and I was always fascinated by music and the craft of hip hop. I’ve seen videos on TV of the greats; 2pac, Biggie, Trick Daddy, Bone Thug N Harmony etc. Their music would always move me. So one day I heard the song “Change the world” By Bone Thugs N Harmony and it hit my soul and I got inspired to start writing. 2Pac’s music helped me focus on my grind and art, so my writing elevated. I respect his independency and how he wanted to build an empire for his family. I wanted to do the same. Thus I created my independent label Grand Staff Entertainment and choose the music. I was already working on my path before I hit freshman year of High school. In high school I built my name and fan base by being the host of the cyphers at the school which would be held every Friday. We would upload videos to YouTube so the school can see. Now I’m in college for the music business, and I’m doing the very same thing, but on a bigger platform.

What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
One creative way I use to promote my music is since social media, it is so popular now. I just go ham and capitalize on Instagram and Snapchat. I’ll have my supporters post videos on Snapchat & Instagram of them bumping some of my new music; while rocking there own personal complementary #Gett T-shirt. I’ll re-post it again on my Instagram.

What is the greatest challenge you face in today’s entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
I believe the greatest challenge I face in today’s entertainment business would be getting my music heard to the right people. Also putting my city on the next level with this music. My message has got to be Big. I overcome this by staying focused, saving my money and investing it into the right places and my career.

How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
The music scene is huge In Miami. Everybody in the hood raps haha. But mostly I like to be around places like the art basel in Wynwood, or south beach. What I don’t like about Miami is that it has a lot of undiscovered talent, and they all have there own groups but not everybody is willing to link up with them. We (Miami) rather just stick to our family. We don’t like strangers at all. Us as a city needs to change that and band together and take over.

Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
The future of music is going too be crazy! As long as we keep artists like Kendrick, J.Cole, Weekend & K.r.i.t we’re going to be just fine. And my generation are just now starting to step into their prime, so we are about to kill the future with some music that’s going to change history. Upcoming artists can be more a part by showing more support to the artist who’s music they really do love. We’ve got to work together. Hip Hop needs us.

What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
Stay focused! Your time is coming.

What do you think makes a great song?
You must have a strong message, a killer concept, ill flows, and powerful word play. Bringing the right Delivery and presents in your voice is the key. And you need that passionate energy , we’ve got to feel you and what you’re saying.

Where can we connect with you? Can you give us your social media links and where we can contact you?
You can contact me at Younggetta305@gmail.com for features. Send me some heat and an email with your name stating “you’re trying to work” and I will get to it. I check it all the time. Or you can contact me at 786-530-6723. - Skilly Magazine
