Born Enrico Westley on December 29, 1991 and raised in West Palm Beach, FL., YOUNG REEK started writing lyrics at the ripe age of 13. It wasn't until he laid eyes on a beautiful girl in school, that he realized he had a gift to rap. When he was caught in the act of writing lyrics in class, the girl forced him to rap for her. Moved by what she heard, told the entire school that REEK was a rapper. From that moment on, he started taking his rap serious.
Influenced by artists like LL Cool J, Michael Jackson, Lil Wayne, Ludacris and Lil' Bow Wow, REEK's style is one that is heavy on lyrical content. He wants his songs to touch many people around the world as well as stay true to his Florida roots. It's not just the beat but what he says which he wants his fans to remember his songs by.
His first professional gig was at the ripe age of 17 when he opened up for the artist Rocko in Detroit, Michigan. Leaving home for the first time to go after his dream.
YOUNG REEK's upbringing has influenced him to be diverse. He grew up with his father listening to not only R&B and rap but pop music, rock as well as artists like Prince and Run DMC which have all helped create his style. His music is about taking his fans on a journey of his life and his dreams.
In the studio, he's a perfectionist and as far as pursuing his career, REEK defines himself as determined and focus. Any opportunity to get better or work with someone who will take him to the next level is his aim.
In the press, REEK has been featured in Word Up! magazine, Tween Pop Radio, as well as hitting the charts overseas. HIs song "Gurl" was #1 on DJ League, Europe's #1 Black Music DJ Community. His songs are being played in clubs where he's not even legally of age!
For the future, REEK has shows lined up around the country as well as continuing to write songs and work in the studio with a super star team of producers.
YOUNG REEK feels that since he can remember, lyrics, beats and rhymes have always been apart of him. Rap is just who he is. It's what he was born to do.
