"Sky is the Limit for Young Scolla"

Scolla has plans in the works with some popular names on the underground scene like The Slag Brothers from Germany, ontop of his own production team, The Xtraordinary Gentlemen. The sky's the limit for Young Scolla, and he just so happens to own a rocketship. So keep your ears tuned and your eyes focused for Detroit's next rising star!

"Scolla shares the stage with Big Names"

Sponsored by the Delta Sigma Theta Detroit Alumnae Chapter, the DelSprite -- a club comprised of young women enrolled in Detroit-area schools (grades 10-12) that encourages community service, social awareness and cultural enrichment -- hosted the Detroit Hip Hop Expose at Wayne County Community College. With a guest panel that included Channel 2 anchor and FM 98 WJLB radio host Charles Pugh and local hip-hop recording artist Young Scolla, members of the audience were encouraged to participate in discussions on what hip-hop music means to them. The expose also included special performances by G.O.O.D Music/Def Jam recording artist Big Sean, Detroit native Rita Mosley, Jay Beretta, Dradie Da Don & Youngstar Leel and Young Scolla, and a special fashion show featuring clothing by Pompous Apparel and Get Fresh Society Clothing. - Detroit Free Press

Bio

“So keep your ears tuned and your eyes focused for Detroit's next rising star!” This is what lifeonwax.com said about Detroit MC Young Scolla. Born in South Memphis, Tennessee, Scolla was moved to the Michigan’s Highland Park area at the age of six. Born with a early blooming talent, Scolla got his start in music appropriately, in elementary school. Blessed with the ability to sing, dance, and rap as he got older that resume of talents has gotten longer. Young Scolla is also a successful producer, songwriter, engineer, graphic designer, and fashion designer.

Scolla’s musical influences come from his parents who are Cameroonian (African) and Scolla prides himself on being able to bring those influences into his music. "I grew up on an eclectic mix of music; everything from African Makossa to jazz to reggae to rap.” Those influences helped evolve Scolla to become an all around musician, a lyrical assassin, and a sultry R&B singer. “I find it fitting to be able to completely take people on an emotional ride thru a song via my production, rhymes and the melodic hooks and interjections through out the songs I create.” Along with music Scolla’s parents also play a pivotal role in his music and life. "My parents raised me to most importantly be a honest and responsible man. I can't see myself being anything else, which is why I pride myself on being honest with my fans"

With his first solo project behind him “Signs of Greatness: Tales of Barack Scobama”, Scolla’s internet and street buzz is getting bigger by the day. His next project ,“Prelude to Perfection”, in which he calls the album before the album is slated to be released this April. He insists this project will connect him with his fans. "You can expect yourself, when you listen to Prelude To Perfection. This project is based off regular everyday emotions, thoughts and feelings. Everything you go through on a day to day basis is reflected on this project. It's for the people and it's also for myself. I want people to get closer to me as a man and I also want to inspire creative minds"
