YOUNG & SICK

So far, this gets the award for the most mysterious musical act of the year (I mean, find another RnB group citing Cannibal Corpse in the "Artists We Also Like" field of their Facebook page...). We were introduced to Young & Sick a couple months ago thanks to an anonymous email sending us a link to their first public production, S.E.X.X.X., an incredibly beautiful and bewitching song in its very unique and tortured way, which is still to this date one of my most streamed songs on the internet, ever. Room 48 came later (download HERE), showcasing a less dark side of the London/LA duo, which only left the small but growing internet fan base wondering what's gonna come next. Seems like the enigma, yet internet omnipresence, The Weeknd have fuelled a monochrome, rough sexed form of R’n'B that has definitely caught on. Next in line to follow suit is Young & SICK. Not knowing much about the group (as you would expect, all in the name of mystery maintenance) other then their own words:

“Fresh from Los Angeles via London comes Young & Sick. R&B vocals inspired by D’Angelo and Van Hunt. BASS inspired by dirt, sex, and sweat.”

I’m not sure I’m entirely convinced by the Young & SICK, in comparison to the intrigued feeling I possessed once I discovered The Weeknd. Yes, I’m feeling the vocals, the rugged bassline and the Tom Vek style cymbal bashing. Not so much a fan of the sounds mimicking a car going faster in the middle of the song, did throw me off a bit. Think it’s a grower. However there is something there, will make my call once I hear a few more tracks. What do you think? - Pinboard Blog

Young and Sick is an L.A. via London R&B project that sounds like the brainchild of a James Blake and The Weeknd collaboration. Their (debut?) track “Room 48” is hopefully the lead single off an upcoming release, but info regarding this up-and-coming act is hard to come by. What I do know is that Young and Sick are also involved in an ill custom jewelry business that you can check out here.
