YOUNG SKITZO
Marlon Pitts:23 year old, rapper/song writer and CEO of FEDI Entertainment, Skitzo’s music is a poetic, controversial and moving collection which fuses hardcore elements of West Coast rap, with the poetic lyricism of East Coast hip-hop, and the melodic catchy-ness of rap’s down South counterparts. Artist such 2Pac, Scarface, C-BO, Bone Thugs, Yukmouth and Marvin Gaye have served as influences to Skitzo’s aggressive style. His body of work is what he calls his therapy sessions because; “I work out all my personal issues within my lyrics.” Skitzo was born and partly raised in Los Angeles, California. His family went on to move to Florida and eventually PG county Maryland. Skito’s debut album, Triumph by Tragedy, will be released through his very own FEDI Entertainment in September and it perfectly illustrates Skitzo’s thinking and fast-paced lifestyle. At age 10 he and his family survived Hurricane Andrew but lost every possession they owned in the storm. Skitzo was diagnosed bipolar and with a severe mental sickness called dissociative disorder at age 13. At this time in his life Skitzo began writing poetry to escape the darkness he felt within. After years of therapy, and hospitalization Skitzo was able to rejoin society but as a result of his on-going mental illness had lost all memory prior to around age 15. Mad at the world, Skitz fell in with wrong crowd, which lead to arrests, violence, and lots of unnecessary trouble. Also around this time, with the encouragement of friends, he began to turn his poems into songs. “It wasn’t too long after that when I started recording my raps,” Skitzo says. Music helped keep him out of trouble. After several unsuccessful attempts at getting signed Skitzo founded Warset and FEDI Entertainment to help pursue his goals. “No one wanted to sign me so I started my own shit independent.” After years of research, struggle, soul searching, Skitzo stands on the verge of releasing a double disc album featuring Warset prominently and other associated artist. Young Skitzo has preformed at club 2k9, The Safari Club, Club UndergroundCalifornia, Mac Daniel college, PG College, and numerous parties around DC, VA, and MD. “In the next few years expect to see me every where! Learn the name. Skitzo, Warset are going to be a dominant force in the industry,” Skitzo promises.
