Bio

Today's music is filled with many bands that come and go, some longer than others, but the styles usually only stick around for a few years sometimes even only months. Few bands have been able to withstand the test of time and maintain some uniqueness in a world filled by cheap knockoffs and blatant less than honorable 'homages'. More and more musicians are finding it harder and harder to gain success in the music industry and with all due respect, the younger generation is finding it harder and harder to maintain a new sound that hasn't been put together quite the same as before. Surely almost everything has been done, but it all depends on how you put it together and, Your Suburban Nightmare™, a metal/screamo band from New Haven County, Connecticut are putting it together just right. From the fallen ashes of multiple failures and subtle conquests in the music industry, Your Suburban Nightmare™, are trying to stake their claim in that, originality, is not dead!
Your Suburban Nightmare™ are truly justified in their title and outlook. Comprised currently of four musicians (vocals, guitar, bass, and drums) the band is built upon an unbreakable foundation. The follies of past acts have brought about great change in the eyes of each member. Playing in multiple bands including a softly successful neo-progressive hard rock band, YSN™ drummer Chris "El Conquistador" Cortez, was on the brink of musical retirement. Working heavily in the film & television industry for the past two years, Chris just about all but hung up the drumsticks and gave up music for good. Upon working on a student-film together in college, he met would-be-Your Suburban Nightmare™-guitarist, Alex Miranda, who was also on the brink of musical retirement due to the same dilemma of working with past unprofessional and unmotivated bands. Being in many bands that he felt 'didn't meet the standard', Alex decided to rethink what it was that really drove him and had turned to the graphic design industry as a unique means to further his career before starting YSN™. After being asked to do a simple backup scream Alex soon realized that he had a hidden talent of sorts with his high pitched screams which soon became a staple in the bands unique sound. What initially started as a 'jam session' between the two guys, turned into for both, 2+ years worth of pure pent up aggression and frustration being released. Now less than a year later the series of failures, broken promises, and uncoordinated business efforts of the past seem like a tiny spec on the radar. After a little over three months of playing together, the two decided to go ahead and search for what would be the remaining members that would make this vision of theirs come to life. Upon trying out over two dozen different vocalists, the guys finally selected one that truly was awe inspiring. May of 2009 marks the birth of Your Suburban Nightmare™ as vocalist Jared Hunter, a poetically gifted and determined young man who truly fit the band perfectly and was accepted just before the new year, came up with the name which was put together from various words on a napkin [which would later take on a whole new meaning giving the band it's message and persona]. With his amazing screaming abilities and wildly entertaining yet soothingly charismatic singing talents, a new era in the band's history has been embedded in the concrete foundation of their success. His previous experience in different musical genres brings a whole new and certainly refreshing taste to the overall sonic direction the band is headed for. Not to mention his lyrics are unmistakable and his talent for writing them even more amazing. From glass-shattering screams, to unbelievable harmonies, and even a touch of 'white-soul', Jared has the skills to show America what it has done to it's youth. The band wanted to truly bring it to 'the next level', and all that was needed was the low-end, the other 'half' of the rhythm section: the bassist. Enter, Mike Gibilisco. A bassist that truly breaks the stereo-type mold. After five months of being a temporary bassist, Mike was finally asked to join after trying out many other bassists that just did not work. With less than a year under their belt and garnering recognition as fast as a metal band can, this new and permanent addition to the band is one that will truly bring a new echelon of evolution to the musical freedom that exists in metal's newest heroes, Your Suburban Nightmare™.
