"CDbaby.com buyer reviews"

These are reviews from real cdbaby customers that have purchased our debut album.

Reviewer: Becca
I rate this cd 4 to leave room for improvement, because I antisipate these guys getting better and better. The compositions is great and it seems to have a real vision.

Great CD! Loved the music and Josh's voice is wonderful!
Reviewer: Deborah
I would recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys good instrumentals, lyrics, and vocals! Josh's voice is beautiful and I felt the whole CD was so nice and mellow to listen to that I will be playing it for years to come!

Great musicianship makes this album a joy to listen to
Reviewer: Brandon
It took me a listen or two but this album has definately grown on me. A combination of great musicianship, a good singer and some, at times, clever lyrics helps this album draw you in. As you listen you pick up fine subtleties that enrich the listening experience. At times it reminded me of Coldplay but yet it was different enough to set these guys apart. The guitar work is not what you might expect on a pop album but any guitarist would know to appreciate the skills and talents exhibited here. I recommend this album if you appreciate musicianship, all these guys can play. On a recent roadtrip, I just let it keep looping over and over on the car stereo while my wife and I just got more and more into it. Give it a listen or if you're like me...two

Spring, 2005. San Francisco-based guitarist Peter Scott invites best friend and vocalist Joshua Young to listen to some of his latest songs. A few afternoon sessions around Scott’s kitchen table quickly become weekly rehearsals and, in June, the duo gets to work on a record at The Rec Room Studios in Los Angeles. With the addition of friends and fellow musicians Christian Williams (drums), Alex Kelly (piano, cello) and Travis Craig (bass), You Said Saturday is born. With complimenting musical talents and a strong allegiance to “the song” the group displays its finer qualities on its eponymous debut. Mixed by Joe Chiccarelli and anchored by Young’s smoky, intoxicating voice, the EP’s lush piano melodies and backbeats make for a casual but vibrant experience. You Said Saturday features eight songs that will stick with you, including the gently upbeat “Orbit” and the rich, lyrical crescendos of “Rope Swing.” Upon release of the EP, world-famous Bay Area radio station KFOG took notice of the album and placed opening track “Seaside” on their local scene compilation. “KFOG’s Local Scene 2” combines fresh new talent from all facets of the San Francisco music scene, and helps benefit Music in Schools Today.
Now that the first steps have been taken, You Said Saturday continues to grow and develop their musical vision. The musical and personal chemistry between these five individuals drives the group to not simply rely on a solid recording, but to continue to create new songs and push the live act into another atmosphere. Frontman Joshua Young’s stage presence can only be described as “pure honest energy” and is sure to hypnotize even the most questioning of onlookers. Combine this with Scott’s songwriting and the band’s cohesiveness, and one is left with a performance that covers all points of the pop spectrum.
Having already played at many San Francisco venues including Slim’s, The Bottom of the Hill, and The Rickshaw Stop; the group has also ventured up and down the West Coast and sets its sights to the rest of the country. In the coming months, You Said Saturday will be looking to share its music with the rest of the world and hopes you can be there to enjoy it.
