You Yourselves

You Yourselves

We are a band that strives to create something new while still maintaining accessibility. We want to entertain a crowd but encourage careful listening on headphones too. Originality is the only way to keep rock alive but, we believe, you also have to let your songs be inviting to any audience.

You Yourselves formed in 2005 in Guelph, Ontario and, with various
changes in band members, recorded three EPs while playing venues
throughout their home province and Quebec.
The now solidified line-up consists of two vocalists, Brian Gillis and
Jon Gazendam (also on keyboards), drummer, Luke McCarter, guitarists,
Greg Jackson and John Law and bassist, Reid McCarter.
You Yourselves have enjoyed success and a loyal following in Guelph,
charting on university radio station CFRU with their second EP, "Cut
Off Your Elevators", and garnering new fans throughout different
cities on the strength of their dynamic and energetic live shows.
The recent release of the self-titled "You Yourselves" EP continues
the band's effort toward forging a unique and innovative sound through
a collection of five songs.

Set List

You Yourselves sets typically range from 30-50 minutes (depending on number of bands, timeslot in line-up).
The songs that comprise sets are regularly changed but consist of material from across our repertoire (emphasizing newer material).
A current set would feature each song from "You Yourselves" EP ("Backyards", "Crimes!", "Dinosaur", "Branded Skull", "Less Forgotten") and a number of older songs from previous EPs (usually "Architects", "For the Birds", "Extended Youth"). Unrecorded or unofficially released songs are also used in sets on occasion.
