Bio

Yr Ods are a five-piece pop band based in Cardiff. Singing bilingually in English and their mother-tounge of Welsh, Yr Ods were described as “a brilliant indie band originally from North Wales with sharpness, melodies and a natural flow that can make you blush” by Radio 1's Huw Stephens.

With their 80s synth-infused psychedelic pop sound, Yr Ods “have been making some of the finest pop music sung in Welsh for a couple of years”, according to Adam Walton of Radio Wales.

"Five absurdly young, psychedelic indie scamps from North Wales who make a gleeful racket full of summer-of-love melodicism" (Sarah Boden, The Observer)

“One of the finest new Welsh bands...(Yr Ods) make indie rock sound sweeeeet in a pop molded packet of win. Stupid melodies and biting hooks make them your favourite new North Wales band. Simple.” (NME.com)

"Their quasi-stadium grandeur collides with sumptuous harmonies" (Dots & Dashes)

It’s lazy to stereotype and, above all, boring. Boredom, you would guess, is not in the vocabulary of Yr Ods" (Daily Post)

Regarding Yr Ods' live performances, Emily Eavis of Glastonbury had this to say;

"They have brilliant pop songs, loads of energy. If you go to watch them I promise you won’t leave until the very end of their set"

Yr Ods had a successful summer in 2010 which saw them make a string of well-received live performances including a second consecutive appearance in Glastonbury, Radio 1's Big Weekend, Camden Crawl and North Wales' very own Wakestock Festival.

At the end of 2010, Yr Ods released their first EP. It was released to a very warm reception, gaining high acclaim from the press on both sides of the Severn Bridge...

Skilfully wielding nostalgia without breaching pastiche, the hype surrounding Yr Ods EP is certainly well founded...a triumphant, engaging release from a band oozing with promise." 4/5 (Miniature Music Press)

After over 2 years of performing live in venues and festivals across Wales and England, and making their name as one of Wales' prime Welsh language bands, their work was paid off after recently receiving the Best Band gong at the BBC Radio Cymru Rock and Pop awards.
Yr Ods are now set to record their debut LP, as well as tour as much as they can over the summer.
