"GloryFest considered a success"

Christian Rapper Yung Jon (Jonathan Hagan of Laurel), right, ... entertain the crowd at GloryFest '09 at Mason Park Saturday.

Dozens of people gathered at Mason Park Saturday for GloryFest '09, Laurel's new praise and worship festival.
Sponsored by Centertree, a local contemporary Christian band, GloryFest began a year ago as SummerFest. The group decided to move the event to a later date, which obviously would necessitate a name change.
Since it's a time of "glorifying God" and it's on a fall night, lead singer Kevin Price said the event was dubbed "GloryFest."
"It will be an ongoing thing," said Price. "We plan to do it every September and we hope it gets bigger and better."
Ben Barr, a member of the group, added that he hopes GloryFest becomes as big as "Praise in the Park" that's held in Lucedale and Atlanta Fest. ...(cont)

"The Dwelling Place"

"My name is Johnny Jimenez, youth pastor of The Dwelling Place Church in Collins, MS. Yung Jon is a christian hip hop artist who I would recommend for any occassion. My youth group absolutely loves him and his music and love to have him perform every chance we get. For Yung Jon its not just about the music. He brings a passion and desire to bring souls to life changing relationship with Christ. And that passion is felt in his live performances. So if your group needs encouragement in the Lord or just wants to have a great time praising him, get him booked."

In Christ,

"Summer Party in Bogalusa, LA"

"Before hosting a Yung Jon concert at our home, my kids and I watched him perform at the Gaylord Park in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Soon after, my 12 yr old daughter, Brooke, wanted to have a concert at our house. Skeptical at first, not knowing how it would turn out, I agreed to the concert.
Now, I am proud to say that on the summer evening of July 18, 2009, we hosted a Yung Jon concert in our front yard. After setting up all of their own equipment, the concert began. Yung Jon performed a few songs and then gave a testimony of how he became a “Christian” rapper. After he talked for a few minutes, he continued his performance. Once the kids loosened up, they all got into the music. Forty-five kids between the ages of 12 and 16 were jumping around, dancing, and having a great time!
Yung Jon’s music has cool beats and Christian- based lyrics. It was music that the kids enjoyed without all of the vulgarity of today’s traditional rap. It was a blessing to see how this “Yung” Christian rap star could capture the attention of all those kids.
Brooke still talks about that special night to her friends. She claims it was the best, most memorable night of her life.
Thanks so much, Yung Jon, Stacy and Ricky, for your hard work and dedication to the Lord. You all can and will touch the lives of many!"

Thanks so much

"At Love In Action we believe that Yung Jon will be used in a big way to further the kingdom. When he ministered here it was very annointing and powerful. He is able to reach people that most Christians would not. It is truly a blessing to see someone who knows their purpose and is walking in it. We look forward to Yung Jon's return."

Yung Jon believes in Jesus Christ! He views preaching through his rap music to be the will God has for him in his life. Yung Jon also states that if it was not for God then he would not be where he is today. In the summer of 2007 he began to realize the calling God has for him. He believes with all his heart that he is supposed to reach people through this music ability God has given him. He prays that lives are changed through this music. He also believes that there is a large group of people who would only listen to this style of Christian music and maybe they will stop and listen to the words that are being spoken through him. Before he wrote his first song, he prayed and asked God to speak through him and let him know what he was supposed to do. Acts 10:42 caught his attention. "He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that He is the one who God appointed as judge of the living and the dead". He knew then and there that this is what God wanted him to do. So he wrote a song called Mission 10:42 explaining his mission from God to reach the lost. He also explained to Christians the importance of being a part of this mission and help grow God's kingdom. Motivated by the way God has used him to change lives, he has worked hard on a complete album. He is extremely determined to reach the lost, and this is his mission!
