Bio

Not too often does a young artist come along who has that desire to learn the business of music, but Yung Mil has come onto the music scene with a sense of maturity rarely seen in an artist his age. He began writing, rapping and producing music at the age of 12 and experienced his first live performance at the young age of 14. At just 19-years-old, he has become an accomplished and well known artist locally and has established a web presence for himself through social networking sites like Youtube.com (http://www.youtube.com/yungmilonstage), Facebook and Twitter ( @yungmil) which has helped him to build his fan base and gain him the respect and admiration of fans from all over the world.

Among one of his most recent accomplishments is winning the Def Jam Rapstar GetSchooled Rap Video Competitionin which his winning entry video "The Leaders of the New School" has earned him a trip to New York City to meet with Def Jam executives Russell Simmons and Kevin Liles, and perform on BET's hit show 106 and Park in June 2011. He is also the first independent artist to be featured on Russell Simmons’s online magazine global grind in a 4-page article and has been featured in the August 15th 2011 issue of Jet Magazine.

Yung Mil has also obtained sponsorships from Vlado Footwear, Z-Hats by Zephyr Grafx, Ashbrook Clothing, LITS, Creative Ink Clothing, Dre Cut Clothing, and Chief Repertoire Apparel and has recently been featured in an on-television interview about his success on Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB).

Yung Mil has a Fresh "new school" Rap style reminiscent of some of the most popular artists on the charts today. He has been influenced by Rap artists like Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Drake and Lil Wayne and RnB artists such as Trey Songs, Jason Derulo, Chris Brown and Usher. He is more than just your average rapper because not only does he write and produce a lot of his own music, but he also incorporates an RnB flavor into his sound by singing his own vocals on many of his songs. In addition to his musical talent, he is a naturally talented Hip Hop and Jerk dancer and is building his acting resume. He has already been cast in a feature film called “The Innocent” due to premiere summer 2011 and appeared in both Adidas Shoe and Target Commercials.

Having shared the stage with high caliber artists like E-40, Mistah Fab, Freeway, Jake-One, Audio Push, Nipsey Hussle and Mac Miller, and Kid Ink and having been the youngest performer to perform at Portland's largest Hip Hop festival in 2011 Poh-Hop, Yung Mil is an accomplished and seasoned live performer.

Yung Mil is a member of the LA Based production team "Project Mayhem," a group of young producers like "Jaynari" who has produced for artists like Def Jams YG and "OMG Fresh B" that have collectively dominated the Jerk music genre. Yung Mil has produced popular jerk songs like "I Rock Vlados”, a promo for Vlado Footwear that has been downloaded thousands of times, has more than 12,000 views on YouTube, and made the top 20 Jerk Videos in the Vlado Footwear sponsorship contest and was featured on Vlado Footwear's recent mixtape release.

Yung Mil Also produced and performed "We Eat” off his debut mixtape "Ptown-Prez" which is in regular rotation on a local radio show on Portland's Wild 107.5 FM, hosted by local celebrity rapper Cool Nutz. The most recent Jerk song release to date is "You’re Fired" produced by OMG Fresh B, one of jerk music's most popular producers. You're fired has been included in a routine by The Parkrose High School Elite Dance team, who are the number one dance team in the state of Oregon. Most recently, his collaboration with popular Jerk music artist Yung Incredible titled “Feelin That” has managed to shoot to the popular list of jerk songs with a collective 40,000+ downloads on Digital Dripped and 102,000+ views on Youtube. Yung Mil not only produces positive and clean jerk music in a genre that is known for its racy lyrics, but has been actively involved in the Jerk scene as a former member of the Portland based jerk crew "Rip City Jerks." Yung Mil understands the importance of setting personal professional long and short-term goals, and is willing to work hard in his pursuit to accomplish them. With plans in the works to start his own independent record label “Reignstorm Music” and Clothing line “YM” His ultimate goal is to be able to share his talents with the world, help to propel and inspire other young artists, and ultimately make entertainment his career.
