Yung Souljah: Biography

Eric Fredericks, known as “Yung Souljah”, was born June 21st , 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia in Crawford Long Hospital. After being born he spent most of his younger years being raised by his aunt, Mrs. Rudean Russell. Rap music caught his attention as early as the age of 5, where he attended Tullwaters Elementary School.

Eric started his first rap group by the age of 10, being inspired by Ms. Camille Esku to be the hypeman for the group called CO2. Once graduating to Crawford Long Middle School he honed and perfected what he determined to be his unique style of rap. He began to start writing his own lyrics then formed another group with his cousin, and they called themselves, DSC. They would rehearse their presentation and wait for an opportunity to get into the studio to record some of their songs.

After graduating to the 7th grade, he met a singer/rapper by the name of Chris Mitchell and became life long friends. But after having to transfer to another school, Yung Souljah lost the desire to rap. But after meeting Donquez Stevens, he regained his desire to perfect his skills.

While attending Cedar Grove High School, he joined the marching band, where he met yet another one of his partners, and really began to feel confident that he had the ability to compete in the rap game.

By the age of 15, his mother switched custody rights back over to herself, where he joined his mother to live in Bowen Homes. Although it was a tough environment to sustain a positive outlook, he did and his popularity grew amongst his peers and was asked to be part of a group called Da Bottom Boyz.

After recording an underground mixtape in his neighborhood, it landed into the hands of a veteran of the music industry, Anthony Hill, who had an independent label. Who took him on the road to show him some of the ins and outs of the rap game. Now back living where he grew up in Zone 3, Yung Souljah is poised to represent the next generation of youngin’s coming from Cleveland Ave. and Jonesboro Rd. Look out for Yung Souljah and his old crew, now called 380 Mafia. WHAT UP BOIIII!!!!!!
