"R&B/Soul is a contemporary version of soul, funk, and gospel charged singing with secular subject matters." The singer/songwriter soon to be introduced to the world as Yunis, embraces key elements of those that inspired her. Yunis's voice "brings peace to the soul," like that of Anita Baker and "her music is timeless," like none other than the great Stevie Wonder.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Yunis began singing at the age of 10. As a member of Raymond Myles and the RAMS, she has had the opportunity to perform in over 10 cities in France and various cities in both Italy and Africa. Her groups international exposure has also landed them yearly performances at the Edmonton Folk Festival, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Bluegrass Festival.
Yunis's destination in music is "to be an icon like Aretha Franklin, who has not only tapped into, but mastered all genres of music." She also seeks to be a "composer of numerous songs" like that of Sam Cooke. Her success within a group has inspired her to spread her wings and seek the inevitable as an emerging solo artist and songwriter. Her album will be unique in the sense that she has written and performed all songs. Currently, Yunis is recording her solo project "Anticipation" which will be released independently by her management company, Kaos Muzik Group this fall.
