Bio
Yuumei is a female singer/songwriting duo based out of Toronto, CANADA made up of Hitomi Kobayashi and Deydra Baptiste. The two met by chance when Deydra answered an ad on Craigslist to fill a room in Kobayashi’s current residence. Hitomi contends that she chose Deydra to fill the spot based on their common musical background. Hitomi was an accomplished guitarist, drummer and bassist and Deydra was an aspiring songwriter.
After s successful gig at Honeyajm 2008, the girls felt inspired to complete their live show. Yuumei has literally electrified all of their original, acoustic compositions for an alter-ego project called The Black Forest. The band is currently in rehearsal stages after recruiting bassist Devin Hornby and drummer James Everett. The Black Forest is in the process of recording their first EP.
"Everything is darker in The Black Forest. Like Yuumei is falling in love and Black Forest is the breakup..." explains Deydra.
