Zagtar kicked up the pace with thrashing ferocity as this 5 piece crammed onto the small TFG stage. It has been a couple of years since they last played live and have undergone some lineup changes in the meantime. They performed like they never took a break, and perhaps off stage they hadn't. Zagtar is a Metal band with its foundations in all things Metal and Thrash. With elements of crooning and guttural growls, the band’s sound can vary from authoritative shouting to menacing whispers.
Currently based in Brisbane Australia, the band has been influenced from a variety of local acts such as King Parrot, Alchemist, the Divinyls, AC/DC, Dream Killers, Hard-ons.
As well as renowned international bands, Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy, Motorhead, Slayer, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Danzig, Samhain, Misfits, Napalm Death, Celtic Frost, Death, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Suicidal Tendencies, Carcass, Type O negative.
Their latest EP release ‘Deadly Curse’ contains tracks that explore the darker side of death, control, corruption, greed and deception.
The Band sprang to life when members ‘Paul’ and ‘Robby’ of the local Brisbane Punk scene wanted to explore their Metal/Thrash side. Paul started writing material for a metal project in 2016 and brought Robby onboard to complement the writing process.
Their sound has been described as “sentimental metal”, with a harshness that is equally matched with its softness.
