Z' Amico

"There's a little something for everyone in our music", says Alex Riddle. The young bass player speaks about the sounds of the newest band to hit the local music scene. Z'AMICO’s music has been described by fans as a unique cocktail of Brazilian, Jamaican and Afro-Caribbean rhythms that effortlessly slides between genres and eras. Z’AMICO draws inspiration from such artists as, Jorge Ben, The Specials, Joao Gilberto, Gilberto Gil, Banda Black Rio, Os Novos Baianos, Os Mutantes, Sugar Minott, Desmond Dekker, The Heptones, Gregory Isaacs, Peter Tosh and, of course, the great Bob Marley. The legendary studios and labels, such as Studio One, Channel One and Som Livre, where talented instrumentalists laid down the rhythmic foundation for generations to come, is another constant source of inspiration that drives them to ever higher musical heights.

Z’AMICO keeps a full house at every show, rain or shine, with their songs about unity, relationships, human emotion, and soul connection while holding down a groove heavy and cultural sound. Z'AMICO provides their audience with messages and emotions that they will remember and a beat you cant help move to. Z'AMICO plays music in hopes of generating wider social interaction and change in the Bay Area community, and plans to take their mission to an international scale.

The 5 piece band consists of West Coast natives; Andrew McKleroy on vocals and acoustic guitar, Rob Moreno on lead guitar, Alex Riddle on bass, Dave Eagle on the drums, and Michael Chilton on keys. Because of each band member's established history in the Bay Area music scene prior to the formation of Z'AMICO, each member brings a large and loving fan base to the project. Z’AMICO, in truth, is a band of friends (Amico means friend in Italian) and they strive to bring their good-natured vibe to the world.
