Bio
Zana Messia, originally from the Balkans, grew up in Sweden where she escaped as a war refugee, at only 5 years old. She recorded her first demo at 15, and landed a recording contract with Sony. In 2010, Zana’s original song in the film “The Lightkeepers” was shortlisted for an Academy Award.
In 2012, following the release of her independent album Balkan Soul, Zana received the Jerry Moss Scholarship to study music composition at UCLA. Her recent songs can be heard in various Hollywood films and she has had the honor of being one of the featured artists for Visa’s 2014 FIFA campaign “Samba Of The World.” Zana’s most recent accomplishments include writing the end title for the film “Sundown” in collaboration with DJ Paul Oakenfold and performing live on stage with Stevie Wonder.
