"Zania estuvo impecable"

Bio

“Zania was Impeccable” El Nuevo Dia, San Juan, PR.
After a sold out concert in the Bayamon Coliseum for the 2004 “Objetivo Fama” Reality Show, I managed to prove myself to 8,000 screaming fans and the newspaper. After being selected for this “American Idol” type show, I was able to branch out into creating my own music and sound. I have discovered that my pride lies in my compositions and I wish to share it with those who are adventurous and are looking for something new.

I like pop and I like rock. Celine Dion, Sarah McLachlan, Nelly Furtado, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, anything that will make your head bop… I also like to express more than impress and that makes my songs I believe, more interesting. For example, "Jaded” is a mellow pop song in 6/8, but builds to a catchy chorus of high intervals that will stick in your head. “Soy asi” is in Spanish and it has a deeper, more obscure sound, with fading guitars and a breathy but raspy rockin’ tone of voice. Another of my compositions is titled “Esperanza” or “Hope”. This is the Celine Dion in me… you get my drift? This is more or less my style… Soft and pretty enough to give you a refreshing sound, but edgy enough, to make you say, “Yeah! There is some pop out there that’s good!”

Just to give you an idea of where I’m coming from, I have sung the US, PR and Canadian National anthems in Horse Races in PR, NBL games and in a very memorable HBO Pay-Per-View Boxing match special. “Famamania” and “Sabado Familiar” were the two shows I hosted for the summer of 2004 with UNIVISION Networks in Puerto Rico. I was later picked up by MTV Channel 24 in Puerto Rico to become their first host to promote the new channel and its videos.

Now back to the music…
Luis Enrique, a well-known and respected salsa artist from Nicaragua, has chosen me to sing a duet (“Si ha de ser que sea”) on his new record coming out this fall in both a ballad and a salsa version. I have also had the pleasure of composing with him.
I am currently recording my demo. Producing this demo is Latin Grammy winner Tommy Torres (Ednita Nazario “Acustico”, Ricky Martin “Almas del Silencio”. Hopefully, it will be completed in late August 2005 and it will include three of my original compositions, one of which is in the English language.
After taking a year hiatus to push my career in a very positive direction I am currently finishing my Degree in Music Business/Management at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. On August 2005 I leave Boston to go to Miami to start my new life in a new city with new opportunities. Who knows what will happen next?!
