Bio

Zap & The Naturals is a Brooklyn-based band led by singer-songwriter Andrew Zapanta, along with Sarah Wood (backing vocals/keys/percs/melodica), Joel Pixley-Fink (bass), Dan Griffith (lead guitar) and Ry Pilla (drums/percs/beatbox). The band was formed in 2009 and is influenced by deep bass grooves, island rhythms, reggae, soulful vocal harmonies and urban expressions. Their debut EP “Ebb or Flow” received high acclaim in the NYC indie music scene and the band has been featured at The Montauk Music Festival and the Adventures NYC Festival by Backpacker Magazine in The Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park. In the past six months the band was honored to be the opening act for State Radio and G. Love & Special Sauce.

In 2011, Andrew recorded a solo cover of Bob Marley’s “One Love” which was a viral success with over 100,000 views. Sarah has traveled the world with classical music ensembles, and Ry has shared the stage with the likes of G-Love, Wyclef Jean, and Jack Johnson.

Winter of 2012 marked the release of their first full length album, "Half Past Three". Born in Brooklyn basements and crowded rehearsal rooms the band widens the styles and vibes explored on "Ebb or Flow." Zap & The Naturals are grateful for the talents of some amazing guest musicians on the album: Jimmy "Jazz" Prescott (G. Love and Special Sauce), and Chuck Fay (State Radio) the latter also lending his post-production expertise on all the tracks, broadening the sounds to an ear-gasmic degree.
