Bio
The Acoustic State was formed in June of 2002, when guitarist/lead vocalist Grayson Minney met up with pianist/keyboardist Eric Heath. The two quickly realized they were onto something big when their styles of playing collaborated so effortlessly. This amazing musical communication between the two was quickly noticed by fans and created a local buzz throughout their neighboring home towns.
Eventually, Grayson started to write some songs on his own, but this time he added lyrics and discovered an incredible and deeply emotional vocal ability which until then, resided only within the walls of his shower or the confines of his automobile. The two combined their ever flowing creativity and recorded their first 6 track self-produced demo album in the June of 2005. This album continues to circulate rapidly underground throughout Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and has found itself as far out as California and Colorado.
Drummer Chris Bowes was introduced in September of 2005. His drumming ability greatly impressed both Grayson and Eric as this finally ended the search for a percussionist that fit their standards. Bass guitarist Jon Coates recently joined the group to round out their already talented repertoire.
The Acoustic State has landed shows at numerous rock clubs and colleges in New England and is filling up their concert schedule for this spring. They are currently working in the studio on their next album which will be available the fall of 2006.
The Acoustic State is influenced by Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Coldplay, Tori Amos, Dispatch, and Pearl Jam.
