Bio
Zean Otey is an Americana music artist who's main musical influence flows from Jazz/Blues moods; some of his work also has been interpreted by some as Pop.
He’s had exposure to gospel music in his early years which may play a part in this influence; but in terms of style, his own is just that...his own.
His writing history begins when he wrote his very first completed song, "Last Goodbyes" at 15 years old-which at the time had more of a Folk twist. From there came an interest in traditional classical music, contemporary country, alternative rock, and pop.
The strong Jazz/Rock/Soul/R&B ‘fusion’ expression that can be heard from him today is a fairly new coming about. He discovered it within himself around the 2009-2010’s and has built on it ever since.
His primary instruments are his vocals, and six-string guitar; but he also is fond of the 4-string bass, piano, drums, and trumpet.
He has recently committed to nurturing a professional music career and plans to continue as an independent, free-willed artist as long as possible.
