Biography

José Medeiros was born in Vila Franca do Campo, December 9, 1951. He is a portuguese musician, composer, actor, also known in the art world by Zeca Medeiros. Originally from the island of São Miguel, Azores, he worked in RTP (Portuguese National TV) for about thirty years.

His focus on the production of TV fiction in the region of the Azores, delivered us remarkable works like "Balada do Atlântico, "Xailes Negros", "Mau Tempo no Canal", "O Barco e o Sonho", "Gente Feliz com Lágrimas", "O Feiticeiro do Vento, "A Ilha de Arlequim” and "O Sorriso da Lua nas Criptómerias”. Any of these works, performed by José Medeiros, ranked with the best of what was done, and do, on Portuguese television.
In 1978 he recorded the singles "Pedrada no Charco"and "Vida Roseira".

In 1995, the album "O Feiticeiro do Tempo" was nominated for the prize José Afonso. In 1999, José Medeiros edited "Cinéfilias e Outras Incertezas", winner of the Prize José Afonso that same year.
"Torna Viagem"also won the prize José Afonso in 2005.
On April 19, 2007, he was awarded the "Career Award - Prestige. "
In 2010, he released "Fados, Fantasmas e Folias.
