Another fantastic contribution was made by Zej. When I heard his CD I immediately knew his music would be perfect for the type of story we were trying to tell. His ability subtly guides the emotion of each scene, perfectly bringing humor, suspense and a bittersweet nostalgia at just the right time. It added exponentially to the emotional power of the performances.

Bio
Zej is a San Francisco-based singer/songwriter whose music reflects his experiences living in West Africa, Latin America, Europe, and the United States. While largely rooted in Americana, Zej's sound also features World Music influences. His songs are deeply emotive, and effectively straddle both feel-good and solemnity with quotable lyrics and poignant guitar voicings.
Zej frequently performs accompanied by guitarist John Foster, bassist Rob Wenig, and drummer Robin Walsh, and also appears in an acoustic duo with singer-songwriter Calen Perkins. He has played venues in the Bay Area including the Plough and Stars, Revolution Café, Café Royale, Bazaar Café, Café Trieste, Café Socha, and Velo Rouge.
Zej has released three recordings. Zej's most recent solo work is best exemplified by his EP titled Manitou, a soulful, darkly melodic compilation. His album, Midnight, Montreal (2005) is an upbeat compilation of songs that successfully bridges world and roots music, revealing influences like Johnny Clegg and Savuka, Paul Simon, Johnny Cash, Richard Shindell, and the Waterboys. In 1995 Zej entered the Minneapolis-St. Paul music scene as founder and leader of the renowned band Kangaroo. Kangaroo's Juniper and Baobab (1997) featured world-pop fusion, with African, Latin, and American folk influences.
