"The Layover: A Preview Zeles" is an pre-EP that features 5 tracks that will get listeners ready for Zeles major release, "The Layover" which is coming soon.
This little EP is an incredible taste of an artist that can craft very diverse tracks. Each track has a different vibe. My favorite track is “Another Day” where Zeles reflects on girls, friends, and his music. It’s progressive, and his flow sounds effortless. His writing skills are something to be admired, with some tracks showcasing his lyrical abilities and others allowing his listeners to hear his ability to create a catchy chorus. He doesn’t rely on features to move his tracks, but places them sporadically throughout the project, allowing it to breathe.

Music from Texas, like the state itself, has always expressed a bold identity, and rap & hip-hop from the Lone Star state has been no exception. As the rise of Southern Hip-Hop in the mid-2000’s opened up new doors, there were suddenly more creative possibilities for artists from the region. Zeles is the artist at the forefront of this hungry, new talent.
Born and raised in the Countdown City a.k.a. San Antonio, Texas, Zeles felt the music in his bones from a very young age. A student of the game from the age of six, Zeles’ steady diet of rap and hip-hop cassettes developed him into the force he is today. While he had regularly rocked freestyle ciphers at parties in high school, Zeles got his first taste of music stardom when he was invited from the audience to freestyle on stage at a Mike Jones college performance. Since moving the crowd that night, Zeles knew what he was destined to become. After graduating from The University of Texas, he started channeling his passion through the mic.
After months of teasing individual tracks online, Zeles unleashed his debut mixtape First Flight, the world’s first look at an artist who is here to stay. You’re immediately awed by his declarations of swagger, but you also relate to his raw, emotional truths. It is only the first glimpse of a story that mirrors all of our own. Today, Zeles' trajectory continues with the highly anticipated release of his follow-up mixtape, The Layover. The 5 track sneak peek of the project, titled The Layover: A Preview, has been well received by audience members, bloggers, and online listeners, alike. The full length project "The Layover: Grounded, But Still Lifted" was well received by fans and critics, alike, garnering 4 Austin Hip Hop Award Nominations including Lyricist of the Year, Mixtape of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year. With no signs of stopping, Zeles will be making a 2nd 2015 release with his EP titled "PPMP." "Lane Shiftin'" gives the fans a taste of the change in production choice for PPMP" versus the soul sampling that fills his previous works. The release of PPMP will show an artist that can change his canvas, and still retain his identity.
