The two members of Montreal's ZENITH (Julien Jay & Francis Lindbergh) have got more than a few aces up their sleeves…With both members racking up an impressive array of significant accomplishments over the years. Jay and Lindbergh – who co-wrote the first “The New Cities” (Sony Music) album “Lost in City Lights”, and additionally the follow-up, “Kill the Lights” ; took home the SOCAN Pop/Rock award for most radio spins in Canada, received a Juno nomination for Best New Group the same year, and in years since have shared stages with the likes of Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, Nine Inch Nails, Avril Lavigne, Marianas Trench, Hedley and Metric, (to name but a few).
This still didn’t cut it for the duo, however, and the long time friends continued to search for a crisper definition of their musical ideology, forming a pact that they would unite in a new project.
Zenith is a metaphor for the vortex of the future, a place in the sky of boundless innovation. “It came to define what we were and are at this stage of our careers, a band on the cornerstone, with a sound being driven into a dramatic bold future. After years touring with different bands, we felt the need to re-design our identity” explains Julien, “All those years on the road brought a sense of grand expanse, of endless roads and natural wonderment for the planet and the universe, “ZENITH is a pinnacle, a peak almost unreachable, it holds a “stellar” connotation that for us, represents a constant re birth of ideas. It is both ancient and of the future, as is our rock ambient sound. It is a constant inspiration to us”
Zenith’s debut single “A Stellar Lullaby” will be out to radio nationwide on August 4th. Their first EP will be announced shortly.
