Biography

ZEN shares an eclectic musical experience with their audience through the creation of improvisational music on stage.

This group has shared the stage with Bela Fleck, The String Cheese Incident, Keller Williams, RatDog and Little Feat.

ZEN is a harmonious musical mixture of experience.

Vocal harmonies mirror the days of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Mark and Bonnie, who have shared the stage with the late John Hartford, Bryan Bowers, and New Grass Revival bring to the mix an acoustic mountain folk music background.

Add to the experience Seth Maynard, an alumni of the Berklee College of Music in Boston with a major in jazz guitar and songwriting. Seth adds to ZEN an array of intense jazz to classic rock overtures.

The rhythm and foundation is a fusion of energy from drummer, Jack Grinn, and bassist, Cameron Tenney.

Cameron Tenney holds down the bass groove in ZEN, as he aspires to stir together the influences of Phil Lesh, George Porter Jr., Oteil Burbridge, and Les Claypool.

Uniquely different, ZEN creates a good mood with many grooves. You walk away from a show feeling better than when you arrived. As with any wondrous experience, ZEN music is in a constant state of reinterpretation, as the players reshape their songs and use them as springboards into extended improvisational jams featuring electric mandolin, harmonica, and electric lead guitar. Be ready for a smile and a "groove in your move" that will last long after the show is over!

Free to Be Me

Written By: Seth Maynard

If I were a job, you could quit me, but I'm not.
If I were a log, you could split me right off the top.
If I were chains, you'd find the keys and lock me up.
If I were a balloon, you could blow me 'til I pop.

But I'm a puzzle made out of pieces you can't see.
I'm Free ... Free To Be Me.

If I were a gun, you could shoot me and that's a fact.
If I were a bank, you could loot me for all of my jack.
If I were a train, you'd run me off of my tracks.
If I were a camel, you'd be the straw that breaks my back.

But I'm no domino to shove over easily.
I'm Free ... Free To Be Me.

I am not a ghost,
I'm nobody's host to be swallowed in the ground.
You can put me down, but I have faith and hope
and reason to believe...
I'm Free.

I'm Free... Free To Be Me.

I'm Free... Do you believe?
I said I'm Free...Are you really Free?

Fish Creek Reunion

Written by: Bonnie Branciaroli

Long ago in a distant time, in a balance of space,
we danced to a lovely song, in an earthly place.

Love is the bread of life, friends the soul.
Water washes away our fears, makes the body whole.

Fishing the stream of life, don't be the worm.
It takes guts to survive the strife, time to learn....remember

Chorus
Jumpin' naked in the swimmin' hole revives the soul.
Hot day sun under summer sky, wonderin' who and why.

Sweet sound of laughter, a steady fall from grace,
a footpath that leads to a re-union of time and space.

Don't count the sunrises, or the full moons missed
for the sake of being busy, too busy bein' amiss.

Are we here to watch the show? How wrong can we be.
Every step, every step we take is a footprint in eternity....remember

Chorus
Jumpin' naked in the swimmin' hole revives the soul.
Hot day sun under summer sky, wonderin' who and why.

Goin on Da Road

Written By: Mark Branciaroli

We made plans to go to Colorado
We made plans to go to Oregon
We made plans to go to Jamaica
We made plans long before we're gone

Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road

So save your money the best you can
Do your time and make your plan
Everyone get ready to go

Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road

Gonna get a big black magic tour bus
Gonna fill it with love and us
Gonna make many memories
Gonna go see what we can be

Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road

Save your money the best you can
Do your time and make your plan
Everyone get ready to go

But maybe we should be responsible,
the road's not very practical
We could leave on a Friday, and
We'll be back for Monday

We could play at Super Wal-Mart
Baby you can drive my car
We could get free food at a wedding
Besides, it ain't to far to the local bar

Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road

Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road
Goin' on da road

Gonna get a big black magic tour bus
Gonna fill it with love and us
Gonna make many memories
Gonna go see what we can be

Save your money the best you can
Do your time and make your plan
Everyone get ready to go

Goin' on da road
